[Question #12857] Very worried

This morning my toddler peed the bed. I got her all changed. My bed didn’t get wet that I knew of so I went to go smell the bed to make sure and my mouth touched her upper thigh area in doing so because she hurried and turned over as I went to smell the bed . She has dry / irritated skin from the pool so I’m worried about transmission especially because I have a cold sore coming. I can feel a very small bump. She was wearing cotton leggings but they aren’t very thick. I am worried sick she is going to get herpes from this. It was the corner of my mouth that touched her upper side thigh and there was some saliva in the  corner of my mouth that touched her. It’s so frustrating because I take daily valtrex and I’m still getting cold sores :(  can the virus still get through her leggings and infect her?

With my Coldsore I can feel it with my tongue but I can’t see it. I’m assuming it’s a cold sore but idk for sure. I don’t know what else it could be.

Sorry to add another thing. I was taking a bath when my toddler told me she had an accident and needed to be changed. So I got out and I wiped my face on the towel and put that towel next to my shirt. I washed my hands after I looked at my cold sore and then I got dressed. I washed my hands again before I changed my toddler but I used my elbow to turn off the water because I was paranoid about the virus being on the faucet. When I changed my daughter I noticed when I brought out the wipes from the package it flicked back and touched my sweater where I turned off the water. So now I’m worried the wipes  picked up the virus from my shirt (one because it was touching the towel I just used and two because I used my elbow that my sweater was covering to turn off the faucet…. I have the sleeves rolled up and it’s flowy so that is how the wipe was able to touch it because the sleeves are hanging down quite a bit ) is this a risk of transmission.. from my lip to the towel/ faucet to my sweater to the wipe to her bottom?

Sorry to add another thing. Today I put my daughter on a public toilet. I wiped it down but not the middle part. . This was the kind of toilet seat where there is a gap in the middle of the front. So I sat her on the toilet and didn’t notice I sat her right on the gap so her thigh was on the bowl part That I didn’t wash. Idk if she has dry or cracked skin so I’m worried of transmission if hsv

I read over your situations carefully and nothing that you describe here presents any risk of your daughter acquiring HSV.  Absolutely nothing.  You can feel reassured  about all of them.

Thank you Terri.
Today my daughter touched my lips (I still have that bump on my lip it’s not open or oozing just a bump still ) when I was helping her get dressed. I accidentally touched the same hand she used and then continued to help her with her undies. Would this make her undies infectious now? I’m sure I touched the crotch area while helping her.
Also I’m worried about droplets of spit coming out when I talk to her  while I change her diaper? Is this a risk of transmission?

You are worrying about things that are not going to transmit HSV to your daughter.  I'm not your psychologist, but clearly, you have some OCD worries about this and your daughter.  As we have discussed in the past, this website does not allow anxiety related questions and these definitely fall into that category.  I'm going to have stop this conversation with a request that if you are not already seeing a cognitive behavior therapist about this, you really should be, they can help you with this worry
