[Question #12888] STD Concern

I’m a little nervous about an std scare.
I received unprotected oral that lasted all of two minutes. Within a few days I had bladder and urine frenquency. Went to ER and was diagnosed with bladder infection and given cephalexin. Those meds bothered me so I was given cipro 500 mg and started yesterday. Today is day 6 since the exposure and all symptoms are gone except red and irritated scrotum (no bumps or lesions) and mild discomfort in urethra but not as bad as it was. My scrotum is also really tight and the left testicle is sensitive. There is no discharge anywhere.
Also the day before I masturbated very hard and used a dildo that caused pain. When masturbating, I used a masturbator sleeve that may not have been cleaned well.
Since the scrotum is still red (penis shaft has no issues), and I am still have a little discomfort could this be something outside of a fungus or yeast on my scrotum?

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll do my best to help.
Your encounter was relatively low risk for STIs but there is a reasonable possibility that the symptoms you describe were due to non-chlamydial NGU or gonorrhea, either of which can occur following receipt of oral sex although urinary frequency is NOT a typical STI symptom. The meds you were given may have cured such a problem. If your symptoms are persisting, you may wish to pursue further evaluation with a urinalysis and urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
The scrotal redness does not suggest an STI. Is the redness getting better or worse? If getting better I would not worry. If worsening, you may need other antibiotics and the best way to determine that would be to seek evaluation by a knowledgeable clinician.

The irritation seems to be better. I put some lotrimin AF fungal crème on it.
If it was non-chlamydial NGU or gonorrhea, would cipro address it?
At the moment, I seem to have left testicle discomfort and a little redness of the scrotum.

If the irritation is improving this could be the course of the irritation or it could be due to the lotrimin. It will not hurt to continue the lotrimin for about a week.
Cipro would cure some but not all gonorrhea and non-chlamydial NGU.
Regarding the testicular discomfort- same questions- is it getting better or getting worse? If improving I would not worry.

The testicle pain didn’t show until today. It had been my prostate area and urethra. Those come and go but the testicle discomfort is most noticeable at the moment.
I also haven’t ejaculated in a week. Any way that could have something to do with it?
Also—when I masturbated last week, could I have enjoyed myself or the sex sleeve caused an infection?

STI or infection related discomfort should not come and go but should be persistent.
You could have injured yourself with the sleeve but again, I'd expect that to be improving. The testicular discomfort is hard to pin down and may warrant an evaluation by an experienced clinician.
As I said above- "Cipro would cure some but not all gonorrhea and non-chlamydial NGU."
As I also said above, this is my final response. Sorry I haven't been more helpful I doubt that I will have more to say that would be helpful. If these symptoms are not improving or are getting worse, perhaps you should seek evaluation by an experienced clinician. Perhaps a urologist. EWH
