[Question #12889] Mpox Male Massage Concern
4 months ago
|
Hello,
I recently had a male to male massage. I was fingered anally with receiving a handjob. I have been previously vaccinated for mpox 2 doses on 2 separate occasions. 4 doses. The last dose 7 months ago. I am quite scared of mpox. Do you think I have a realistic mpox risk from this one encounter? I checked my state health department website mentioning no mpox cases in 4 weeks. Prior to that there were 1-2 cases every other week. Any STI risk from the finger in the rectum? Thank you for advice!

Welcome back to the Forum and thanks for your implied confidence in our service. I happened to be on the site when your new questions arrived so you are getting a more rapid response than is typical- follow-ups may take longer.
Congratulations as well on your sexual health practices. I know that you use condoms regularly and vaccination against mpox is an essential element of mpox prevention. You are doing things right.
Your risk for mpox is low- as you have found out, mpox is rather uncommon in your community and you are vaccinated. There is no recommendation for further vaccination beyond what you have already had. I think your risk for mpox from the events you describe is very, very low and would not worry. Nor do I see any risk for other STIs. I see no reason for concern of for testing. Please don't worry. EWH

Hi Dr. ,
Thank you for your rapid response. The interaction only happened 24 hours ago and I am now feeling my face burning up. I am assuming my symptoms have nothing to do with mpox. It would take 5 or more days to notice any symptoms correct. It is probably just me worrying causing my flushed/burning up face? Thank you again for your thoughts and advice. Many thanks!!

one day is too soon for the sensation you are experiencing to be the onset of mpox. EWH---
