Hello I’m here for a question about sti/std risk within the encounter  I had today now I had a vaginal sex that lasted about 3 minutes. I wore a condom and confirmed that I put it on right after we finished, I realized there was blood on the outer part of the condom. She said beforehand that she didn’t have anything, but I just want an experts opinion on this situation before I end up getting tested and giving into my OCD problem. My brain is racing through thoughts like what if the blood touched my penis somehow and what would happen if it did. Also What is the Risk of pregnancy during this exposure. I checked afterwards it didn’t look like the condom broke didn’t and it didn’t seem like Sperm got out at all. Thank you for your time I appreciate this very much.

Also to clarify for the “I wore a condom and confirmed that I put it on right after we finished, I realized there was blood on the outer part of the condom.” I messed up my grammar rushing typing this what I meant is that I wore the condom and confirmed I put it on right. Then after I discovered the blood on top of the condom after we finished.

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.

You do not provide enough information to judge your risk. You need to say something more about your partner. What makes you think she might have HIV or another STD?

Based on the limited information provided, I can say that skin contact with vaginal blood does not increase risk of any infectiond. For HIV, the amount of HIV in vaginal fluid is the same as in blood. And with the blood on the outside of the condom, there could be no risk anyway. I see no reason for worry or to be tested for anything.

Perhaps I will have more to say if you say more about your partner. I hope these comments are helpful until then.

Okay, I see. I just really wanted your expertise on the situation because I wasn’t sure. After thinking to myself for a few hours, I highly doubt she had any STD or STI. Like I said in the first post, she said she didn’t have any STD or STI but I just wanted to confirm that there’s no reason to get tested, which you did. From what I looked up, bleeding just sometimes happens during sex, especially if it’s just from her spotting, birth control, or friction itself. During sex, nothing seemed out of order, and afterwards, the condom was in good condition; nothing broke. I’m sure this is most likely my OCD just messing with me, which I will get addressed soon. My mind is just really afraid of catching something. Lastly, I just wanted to confirm and ask, Is it highly unlikely for me to catch any STD or STI as long as the condom does not break? I really appreciate the response Thank you.

Thanks for the additional information. Sounds like a partner at low risk for any transmissible STI. No change to my initial assessment:  no significant risk for anything, no need for testing.---

Alright that’s great then but one final question. Is it highly unlikely for me to catch any std/sti as long as the condom doesn’t break? Thank you for your time this is my last question appreciate your help.

If the condom had broken, it would have raised the chance of infection. However, even with no condom at all, your risk would have been low. Using condoms in this situation always is wise, but most sexually active women have no transmissible STI.

That completes the two follow-up comments and replies included with each question and so ends this thread. I hope the discussion has been helpful. Best wishes and stay safe (as you have been doing!).
