[Question #12977] Yellow tinted Semen
|
Hi Doctors,
I noticed recently after masturbation that my semen has a yellowish color to it or tint. Usually it’s off white color.
Is that indication of chlamydia Or gonorrhea?
I don’t have any other symptoms. I’m a 49 year old male. If you go online and google “yellow semen” it gives you a list of causes and STIs are listed with no context. That’s why I’m here for a more detailed reason.
I’ve been with the same woman partner for 7 months and we have unprotected sex.
I was tested for chlamydia and gonorhea at 3 months into the relationship and it was negative as were other STD tests.

My other question, she hasn’t been tested but I have been at 3 months into the relationship. If she had gonorhea and chlamydia, would the chances be pretty high she would’ve passed it to me in the 3 month time frame?

Welcome back to the Forum. These are the same questions that you asked 3 months ago. Yellow ejaculate is a non-specific finding. It could indicate an STI but you would typically also have a penile discharge and, as you mention, you have been tested and found to be negative. It may also be normal or indicate a non-STI infection such as prostatitis. Clearly this is something that you continue to worry about. That being the case, I'd suggest that you see a urologist. Your yellow ejaculate is not a sign of gonorrhea or chlamydia.
If your partner was infected, after multiple sexual exposures it is highly likely that you would have been infected by the time 3 months had pasted.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
These questions will prevent me from returning in the future.
1) so basically gonorhea and chlamydia are only passed by sexual contact?
1A) would that mean by rubbing your penis head against her vagina?
1b) can it be transmitted such as you (hypothetical mind you) wipe your penis head with a wet towel or paper towel that had the bacteria on it?
2) I did see my PCP, he said my semen looked normal but had a straw color look to it like to it such as tinted light yellow. He says semen bunched up or on against white surfaces can make it look that way. Would you agree with that?
3) more of an medical industry question, you say on this forum gonorhea and chlamydia clear up on their own over time, but when I go to web MD or health line they say it won’t clear up and make it seem like a death sentence. Why is that?

In the interval since your last post we have also spoken with a highly regarded urologist who reports that she has had hundreds ir not thousands of consultations regarding changes in ejaculate color and has NEVER found this to be indicative of an otherwise inapparent STI.

Correct
1A) would that mean by rubbing your penis head against her vagina?
No. No penetration, no risk.
1b) can it be transmitted such as you (hypothetical mind you) wipe your penis head with a wet towel or paper towel that had the bacteria on it?
Absolutely not
2) I did see my PCP, he said my semen looked normal but had a straw color look to it like to it such as tinted light yellow. He says semen bunched up or on against white surfaces can make it look that way. Would you agree with that?
Yes. See my comment above
3) more of an medical industry question, you say on this forum gonorhea and chlamydia clear up on their own over time, but when I go to web MD or health line they say it won’t clear up and make it seem like a death sentence. Why is that? your follow-ups:1) so basically gonorhea and chlamydia are only passed by sexual contact?
I cannot comment on misinformation you find on the internet where much of what is said is not provided by experts. We have performed published research studies which demonstrate that over time untreated persons go from having positive tests to negative tests. If you prefer what you find on the internet, that is, of course up to you- it's wrong however. Treatment ASAP is indicated both to prevent transmission to others and to avoid complications in patients and their partners.

I do have one last question, I share a bathroom with other people. Idk their sexual history.
After masturbating I wiped the tip of my penis with a flushable wipe. The penis hole was more open as I just finished ejaculating.
Anyways, I believe the wipe was used by someone in my apartment and stuffed back in the container. It was a water/plant based fibers natural ingredient type of wipe. I didn’t see anything that said anti bacterial.
Would I be able to contract gonorrhea or chlamydia by wiping the tip of my penis with a natural ingredient wet wipe after ejaculating if their was std bacteria from those to STIs on it?

Gonorrhea, chlamydia and other STIs would not be transmitted through contact with a flushable wipe that some else, who happened to be infected, has used previously
This completes this thread. Please don't worry. EWH
