[Question #12987] Infection or STI? Not sure what I have

A month ago I (male) had experimented with a guy for like 5-15 min till I realized it wasn’t for me. It was just grinding and handjob and they kissed my chest. The person said they were clean and had a musty smell I thought it was the weather. I was tested two days later and said I’m clean. After I had redness on my tip/shaft and my crown around my tip is irritated. My testicles are also red now. I also received a hemorrhoid from the grinding. No burning feeling when I pee though I do have these slight pains around my waist/pelvic area. I also have the same musty smell that they had only on my groin and I can sometimes smell it on others. I’ve seen no blisters or sores around my groin. I heard there’s zero risk for STI from grinding but my anxiety makes me worry. I have been taking clotrimazole 1% on my tip because the symptoms on it seemed similar to balanitis and took medicine for yeast infection. I’ve taken the medicine two weeks ago. My question is this an STI or an infection that I received from the person.

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. The activities you describe, grinding and having your chest kissed were no risk activities in terms of risk for all STIs including HIV. There is agreement on this fact among all experts, the CDC and the WHO. Grinding of the sort you describe however can cause friction and lead to the sort of irritation you describe. Normally however this would get better in a day or two. What you describe sounds like it could be a fungal skin infection ("jock itch") which does not always respond to antifungal treatments. You might want to try a brand of anti-fungal medication containing a different drug.
As I said, there is no risk for STIs. I see no reason for concern and no need for testing. EWH

Thank you for the reply. So there’s no risk of STI’s herpes or otherwise. Also I have taken fluconazole for the fungal infection two weeks ago. It didn’t seem to fully get the infection out of me. Though it did help with a throat issue I was dealing with. I have been using the cream I mentioned every day. Do you recommend going to a dermatologist or back to my PCP to get another fungal medication prescribed. Honestly I just want this issue resolved. Also the discomfort I have every now and then is most likely the fungal infection in my body I assume.

No STI would cause symptoms that come and go. I’d suggest you see your regular doctor. EWH---
