[Question #13047] Transmission

Yesterday my toddler had pooped so I changed her and totally forgot to wash my hands. We were at a swimming pool. Five mins prior I did eat a brownie so I’m worried about the possibility of virus being on my fingers. No current cold sore but this morning my lips feel odd so I could just be in my head. I don’t think I touched my mouth anytime between the brownie and changing her but who knows. I didn’t touch her bottom only the wipe did…. But I did touch the wipe before it touched her bottom.  Could this be a potential risk?

I rotate the wipe when I use it to the clean area if that makes sense. So I know I touched the whole wipe.
I’m also worried about a cold sore coming since I was in the sun all day . But I’m hoping not because I’m on daily anti virals

Nothing you've described here presents any risk of your toddler acquiring HSV 1 - absolutely nothing.

Thank you Terri.
Today while getting dressed my toddler poked either my underwear or my bikini area that was not covered by the fabric then she unbuttoned her jeans to fix them. Is the skin there too think for the virus to get in? I do t have any open sores or anything but still worry.

I do have some small skin colored bumps that I think are from shaving? But who knows for sure haha

That is not the kind of contact that would put her at risk for HSV - not at all.

Thank you! We went to the pool today so while my daughter was in the bath  I laid on the carpet outside the bathroom and was still in my swimming suit. I have a weird bump on my upper back thigh that I’m worried touched the carpet because 2 mins after she came and sat in the same area I was in before I bathed her. She sat here to get dressed so she was naked. She has some small scabs on her thigh from a scrape. My swimming swimming suit was still a little wet so I’m worried about more transmission. Should I be worried?

Today I took some medicine then I picked up my phone… 5 mins later I changed my toddlers bottom and right before I touched my phone. Could the virus be on my phone from me touching my mouth before? I don’t have a cold sore but I’m not sure how the shedding of the virus works?

Sorry for all these different questions. Today my toddler said her bottom hurt so I took a Quick Look for her. Before hand I was brushing my teeth and doing my makeup. I did wash my hands but I’m just seeing if a quick hand wash was effective enough to kill any virus that could have been there?

The hand wash was enough to kill the virus.  Without a cold sore, there wouldn't be enough virus on a phone to infected a person through touching it and then touching a child.  The swimsuit issue is not a risk.  I so hope that you are getting cognitive behavior therapy for your worries about herpes.  Nothing you have ever written presents a risk for transmission to your dear child.
