[Question #13057] HIV/STD CONCERNS

Oct 17 I received a massage that ended with a handjob until completion (no condom). I male was fully undressed, and the masseuse was a female Asian fully dressed. It was 3-4 minutes of hand-to-penis masturbation. I can't remember if oral was performed as I was not watching, and this is what concerns me. I was more concerned about herpes, but I have a growing concern about HIV. The following week, I had night sweats, head cold, excessive urination, and extreme anxiety. Never had night sweats before. I called my doctor, and they ordered a full-panel STI test. I took a test 10 days later, and everything came back negative. Over a few weeks, I developed a few bumps resembling clear bumps on my arms, which took a few weeks to clear. Now, my chest is continuously breaking out with what I assume to be folliculitis. This ongoing issue is new to me and seems to have started after this incident. On Dec 26 (10 weeks post-exposure), I did another full panel test, which included a 4th gen HIV test, and it was negative. My concern is if oral was performed without a condom and my recurring folliculitis, could I have contracted something, specifically HIV? I am still suffering from the breakouts on my chest, neck, and upper stomach, seemingly getting worse; this is now 7 months post-exposure. Should I test again for HIV?

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for your questions and your confidence in our service.  I'll be glad to comment.

If your masseuse had performed oral sex on you, you would know it. Further, virtually all experts, including the CDC and WHO are in agreement that receipt of masturbation is not a risk for HIB or other STIs.  I see no reason for concern and no medical or scientific reason reason for further testing.

As for your recurring folliculitis, this is not a sign of HIV or any other STI despite what you might have read on the internet.  Symptoms of STIs, including HIV do not come and go

I urge you to have no concerns about the encounter you describe and move forward  Please don't worry  EWH

Thank you doctor, this site has been extremely helpful.

I know my anxiety is probably getting the best of me as it has me second guessing the encounter and questioning if she did perform oral or not. This will be my final question.

Would you consider my hiv test at 10 weeks (70 days) conclusive and the symptoms I am having unrelated to HIV or other STIs?

Yes. I would consider your 10 week test results entirely conclusive and see no reason for further testing. The symptoms you are experiencing are due to something other than HIV or other STI. It’s time to move forward. EWH.---
