[Question #13068] STD from Sex Doll

I purchased a sex doll on Amazon with TPE plastic vagina and anus. I have read online that TPE material can absorb bacteria and diseases. I dont believe I cleaned either hole before use.  I ordered it on may 21 and received it and used it on may 23.  The website says it does not take returns on this product but if it looks damaged the customer can take a photo and send it and request a refund or replacement.  So I guess that means my product was brand new.  However I am so paranoid that either the seller used it before me or another customer used it.  I feel like this sex doll never even fully dries out.  How concerned should I be about HIV and all STDs? I would prefer if Dr Handsfield or Dr Hook can answer.  Thank you

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for your questions and your implied confidence in our service.  I'm glad to be able to reassure you that there is no risk to you from having used the doll you describe.  Thermoplastic elastomers are used in this situation because of their flexibility and soft texture, accounting for the moist sensation you experienced.

Use of a sex doll is essentially masturbation performed using the doll.  Masturbation is safe sex even when performed by another person.  This is true even when another person's genital secretions are transferred by the process.  STIs including HIV rapidly become non-infectious upon exposure to the environment as well.  Thus is the very unlikely circumstance that your purchase had been used by another person, any infectious agent present would have become non-infectious long before it was delivered to you.

There are no reports of persons becoming infected with STIs including HIV through the sort of exposure you describe and you will not be the first  I see no medical or scientific reason for testing or concern.  Please don't worry.  EWH

Doctor, Thank you so much.  First off to be clear, I am a male and I have inserted my bare penis inside of the holes of the Doll.  When you say STDS and HIV die quickly upon exposure to the environment, Does that include dying quickly in something like a makeshift TPE vagina or anus  that is sort of closed off to alot of air where total drying might not have happened? And if so, how long does it take for stds/Hiv to be totally non infectious? (online many places say TPE material cant be fully cleaned and therefore diseases can survive in it ) I thought I have seen other answers where you say stds from sex toys is possible.  Also I am worried because the doll I bought was about $186 which is cheaper than other websites so I dont know if the seller here on amazon buys used sex toys for cheap and then sells them as "new".  Also, are there any diseases or STDS at all that I should be concerned about here? Even like trich or hepatitis or anything else? Thank you so much.

Yes, any organisms present within the holes would not be infectious.  The organisms become non-infectious virtually immediately.  I assure you that in the unlikely circumstance that organisms were present in the doll, they would not have been able to infect you.  I repeat, you have nothing to worry about.  Further, Amazon or it's agents would not seel contaminated or used items.  Anything you read on the internet to the contrary is wrong.  Please don't worry.  EWH---

Doctor.. would it matter that when I received the Doll it was in a box and the Doll itself was wrapped up in plastic? Would that preserve any STD or HIV?

Also I have seen a few answers on this site where you and dr. handsfield say getting infected with a sex toy is possible.. Can you explain?

And finally, why cant STDS and HIV survive and be infectious in a makeshift TPE material vagina or anus?
I have seen online that HIV can survive in dried blood outside the human body for up to 6 days.

If you can please explain and answer all my questions here.
Thank you so much

Final responses.  I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble accepting that the sex toy you purchased cannot have put you at risk for HIV or any other STIs.  The packaging would make no difference.

Sex toys could, theoretically, transmit STIs when shared immediately between an infected and uninflected partner.  No STI delivered to you over a day or two could conceivably transmit an STI, including HIV, to you.  As I explained earlier, HIV and other STIs become non infectious virtually immediately after exposure to the environment outside the body.

The online information, like so much of what is found on the internet is incorrect.  Any HIV in dried blood would not be infectious.

This is my final reply.  There should be no need for you to return with further questions about this topic.  The answers will not change.  EEH
