[Question #13084] Oral Sex

Thanks for your amazing service. I had unprotected oral briefly in Indonesia. There is no reason for me to think the girl has any STD of any kind, however due to my anxiety, just checking my understanding is correct that HIV testing wouldn’t be required after this incident from a medical viewpoint and chance of any other STDs is low? Thank you

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your question and your confidence in our service.  I'll be glad to comment.  The exposure you describe was virtually no risk for HIV and very low risk for other STIs.  Most people, even most commercial sex workers do not have STIs, when they do, oral infections are less common than genital infections and transmission of oral infections is a biologically inefficient process (i.e. it does not usually occur).  There are NO proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex and of other STIs, gonorrhea, which becomes symptomatic in over 90% of cases within 3-5 days of exposure, is most common.  I would have no concerns about HIV from this encounter and if asymptomatic, very little concern about other STIs.

Some clients choose to test however for the peace of mind that anegative test provides.  If you fall into that category, the most important test to have would be a urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia.  I would have no concern about HIV.

I hope this perspective is helpful.  EWH

There is no medical or scientific reason for testing following receipt of unprotected oral sex.  I encourage you to move forward without concern.  EWH---

Many thanks for the reassurance. I forgot to say I briefly performed oral sex on her as well. Does any of your advice regarding HIV testing change? Thank you

Thanks for the additional information.  This does not change my assessment of advice.

We provide up to 3 response to each client's questions.  This is my 3rd response.  The thread will now be closed.  There should be no need to return with further questions about this encounter.   Take care- please don't worry.  EWH
