[Question #13133] STI - Painful urination

Had a sexual encounter 7 days ago, did receptive anal and some oral without protection.  My chief concern is I am having painful urination with no notable discharge.  I did have a mild fever 99-100 (w/back pain) about 3 days after the encounter and one or two evenings had some night sweats. I now have swollen lymph nodes in my neck and a few canker sores in mouth and continue to have burning sensation while urinating .  Are any of these symptoms consistent with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV - please specify for each.  thanks for your help.

Welcome to our forum. Thanks for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment.

You are uncomfortable urination could be related to an STI although it would be unusual for an STI to be causing fever, back pain and sweats.   Similarly, it’s difficult to see how your canker sores would be related to the encounter you describe. These sorts of symptoms could arise from a urinary or prostate infection was well.  The source of symptoms you describe could be due to an STI such as gonorrhea or nongonococcal your arthritis. However, most typically you would see a discharge with those problems. Receipt oral sex would be an unusual cause of a urinary attack infection.  My advice would be to see a healthcare professional, to get a urinalysis to evaluate for a urinary tract infection, and seek urine tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia.

I hope this information is helpful. EWH.

Thank you. As a follow-up, does the swollen lymph nodes in the neck point point to anything? Also, are these symptoms indicative of a HIV exposure?

The symptoms you describe do not suggest HIV.  Swollen lymph nodes in your neck are also non specific and almost certainly unrelated to the encounter you describe.

One follow up remaining.  EWH
