[Question #13155] Some new issues

Hi,

Related to my previous message:

At 11 days, I had an hivprcrna that was negative and an HIV DUO at 19 days, also negative.

At 13 days, I had intercourse with my wife. Six days later, she got extremely sick (fever, sore throat, cough, and muscle ache). Then, a few nights later she woke up with swollen hands and urticaria all over her body the following day. This hasn’t really resolved. I’ve read that there have been instances where HIV triggered urticaria in individuals and am worried my test results were false negatives and I gave her something.

Looking for your reasoned assessment/ approach.

Thanks.

welcome back to the forum although I'm sorry you felt the need.  You DO NOT HAVEHIV!!.

No one has ever acquired HIV from receipt of oral sex and you have a negative HIV RNA PCR test.  Your assessment suggests that you have been searching the internet for the cause of your wife's symptoms.  Recently acquired HIV occasionally, but rarely causes urticaria no matter what you read on the internet.  The most common cause of acute urticarial rash is a community acquired, every day viral illness.  Her illness is unrelated to the casual contact we discussed recently.  If her rash persists, she should see her regular doctor for evaluation and symptomatic treatment,  EWH
