[Question #13159] 16 weeks- Conclusive?

I apologize for coming back to the forum, but a couple final questions.  I have felt pain and general discomfort In the genital region for the last 12 days, culminating in left testicular pain so bad I could hardly sleep.  It has since subsided this AM.  However, I never had these issues before the described event so it is hard to disassociate the two.  This pain ultimately led me to test right at 16 weeks, full 10 panel from labcorp.  These came back negative.  Is 16 weeks conclusive?  I can be certain these feelings are not due to STi?  The only thing I haven’t tested for is MGEN.  What would be the chances that MGEN could cause these symptoms?

I am also developing what looks like a raised rash just above my belt line. A couple small clusters.  Could the tingling the last 11 days that I’m feeling been prodrome symptoms and this is the virus presenting itself?  The blood test wouldn’t miss it if this was the case correct?

It's unfortunate that you are having so much trouble accepting the myriad of repeated negative tests that you have had following your virtually no risk encounter about 4 months ago.  You must be feeling terribly guilty.  The first sentence in my reply a month ago was "Your encounter 3 months was very low risk and you proved you were not infected by testing twice with negative results."  That remains my assessment and it is not going to change with further negative tests which is what you would get with additional tests.  You seem to be searching for signs of an STI and then attributing most anything you (or your girlfriend) experience (s) to an STI which has not yet been detected.

The major symptom of Mycoplasma genitalium, an STI pathogen of questionable significance, is urethral discharge.

The rash you describe it not in a location where herpes would occur and does not sound like HSV.

If your testicular pain is persisting, you need to see a doctor, perhaps a urologist.  If you do this, please tell him/her of your test results to date.

I have nothing more to say.  I will however warn you that repetitive, anxiety-driven questions do no one any good.  Following closure of this thread (you have two follow-ups remaining) no further questions will be accepted and should you post again, your questions may be deleted without a response and without return of your posting fee.  This measure would be taken out of concern for you- nothing more.  EWH

Thank you for your response and you are correct, I am feeling terribly guilty.   I don’t think I was clear enough when I did say I tested at 16 weeks and they all came back negative.  I am asking if these tests at 16 weeks are 100% conclusive?  I know at 4 weeks they were not considered 100%.  I will not return to the forum after this thread is closed.

You were perfectly clear.  Your test results are entirely conclusive.

Would your assessment change if I told you I was now having muscle aches and mild fever?  What is the likelihood of a 16 week HSV 1 and/or 2 IGG test being a false negative?  I have not developed any bumps that have turned into blisters but it feels like my skin is tingling, and couple that with how I am now feeling it seems like typical prodrome symptoms.  Would I have developed the hsv bumps/blister by now?  I have seen on other pages and in some threads on this page herpes can go undetected for many months or even a year, but hopefully doesn’t mean for new cases which this would be.  I have also seen that new cases take anywhere from 2-21 days to show symptoms and we are well past that.  Just seems like so much conflicting information out there.  In any case, thanks for your comments and help over the past months.  I guess I am out of questions other than those and I will have to find other ways to deal with the guilt and anxiety.

If anything comma development of muscle aches and fever would make me consider something other than any STI, including herpes.  If you had acquired herpes and we’re going to develop lesions, they would have developed long ago. Similarly, the majority of blood tests for HSP would be positive at this time. Your post suggest that you were spending entirely too much time on the Internet and being misled by what you see there.

If there are health issues, you should see a doctor, as I have said before.  If there are not, I would urge you to consider seeing a counselor who might help you work through your guilt so that you could move forward.

As you know, this completes this thread and it is time for us both to move forward. I wish you the best, but there is a little more to be offered to you from this forum. There should be no reason to return. EWH.
