[Question #13182] Csw risk

Uk male here.
Sexual history - in relationship for last 10 years with a woman whim inwas wlher first snd only partner.. Prior to tlrelatinship have had 20 plus sexual partners but always practised condom protected.sex except maybe on 4 or 5 single occasions . Hsv status unknown. Hpv status - had one episode of anal warts over 18 years ago. Which cleared using aldara.
I foolishly employed the services of a csw in London via a website. Engaged in oral and vaginal sex but cannot recall if condoms were used.
Intend to get tested for all bacterial sti and medicate accordingly. What are my risks of the viral std s ? Especially given I've been a monotonous relationship. For this one time incident. What are my risks for HPV (wart causing/symptoms causing type specifically) , hsv2 ( making assumption person was infected ),.hiv and hep b.
If I have caught genital.warts, what window would symptoms.be expected and what odds that inbound.havr symptoms.
If I have been infected.with hsv2 . What percentage of infections show symptoms and what period of time?
Thanks

Welcome back to the Forum. Many of the questions you ask were answered in your prior visits to the Forum. As you know, most CSWs do not have STIs and tend to be tested regularly and to take appropriate precautions against acquiring or transmitting STIs. Your risk from the exposure you describe is low.
In terms of viral STIs, having had about 20 prior partners, the probability that you already have had several types of HOV infection is high unless you were vaccinated and the additional risk of acquiring HPV from single vaginal and oral exposures is low. Having already had visible ano-genital warts, your risk for new infection is low. When warts are acquired, they typically take 2-3 weeks to appear.
About 25% of HSV-2 infections are acquired asymptomatically but your risk for HSV-2 is likewise quite low. We strongly recommend against blood tests for HSV- the risk of you having a falsely positive or erroneous result is far, far higher than your risk of infection.
I hope this information is helpful. Other than the bacterial STI testing you have mentioned I would not worry further. EWH

Hi ,
Sorry I should have clarified. I've had about 2 sexual.partners but 20 encounters , one time all protected. Will that alter my risk?
My.primary concerns are genital warts from a single unprotected sex act? And hsv2 from a single unprotected sex act,
I should add that I've tested positove for hsv1 1 and negative for hsv 2
With no exposures other than my partner since then. The ani genital.wart infection was.some.time.ago. will.i.still.have decent immunity to hpv genital.wart causing strains?
And also what likelihood of hsv2 say if the person was.infected with an outbreakmand the same.for genital.earts.
Thanks again

Sorry to also.clarify wa that 2 to 3 weeks or months for warts to appear and what percentage of hsv2 express symptoms?

Thanks for the clarification. There is still a substantial likelihood that after 20 encounters with CSWs that you already have HPV. condoms reduce the risk for HPV (and HSV) somewhat but not as much fo bacterial STIs. That said, there is little increase in risk for HPV infection following a single additional encounter.
There are no per encounter estimates of the risk of infection with either HPV or HSV but the risk of either infection following a single additional encounter is low. That you already have HSV-1 somewhat reduces your vulnerability to acquistion of HSV-2.
As I told you above, about 25% of new HSV infections are asymptomatic.
I apologize for the typo- it typically takes 2-3 months, not weeks for visible genital warts to appear.
This is not something you can realistically do something about at this time. Personally I would not be worried that your recent encounter has meaningfully increased your risk of infection
One follow-up remaining. EWH

Thank you for your replies.
So am inrogjtnto assume that at my age and based in exposures and prior infection new hpv and specifically visible genital warts from a one time unprotected incidence are to be low? With hsv being likely to be 75 percent symptomatic but also at low odds ? Less than say 5 percent? Best estimate appreciated !

Final responses. Estimates are imprecise however I would estimate your risk of having acquired HSV-2 at substantially less than 1% and your HPV risk as less than 5% with the likelihood of developing visible warts lower still.
This completes this thread which will now be closed. Try to not worry. EWH
