[Question #13196] Accuracy of HIV Rapid 4th Gen ab ag Home Test

In connection of my earlier encounters which i have detailed on my previous question. I did a home test HIV 4th Gen Rapid AbAg from a company which is an ISO and WHO GMP certified Company. And test came out negative. My question is can i consider this result conclusive and how accurate are the home test kit as the one i used ? Thanks Doctor

Welcome back to the Forum. As I indicated in our last interaction, the encounters you previously described were virtually no risk for acquisition of HIV. Fourth generation tests for HIV are considered conclusive at 6 weeks or beyond. There is no meaningful difference between 40 and 42 days. As long as you followed the test instructions, these results confirm that you did not acquire HIV.

Home tests have very slightly higher error rates than lab tests but these differences are not statistically significant. In your case, your results confirm what you were already told about your HIV risk. I encourage you to move forward without concern.
