[Question #13205] HIV
|
Hello. Can you please see my previous question that I asked last week about HIV and tattoo needle. I read in some of your older post that hiv usually dies as soon as it hits the air or when it dries. I guess my question is if I got a tattoo an hour after someone who was hiv positive and the blood dried on that same needle and that needle was used on me would I contract hiv. I'm just worried because I didn't see the tattoo guy change the needle.

This is a repetitive question. I’m not sure why you would expect the answer to change. Getting a tattoo in a liscensed tattoo parlor is a virtually no risk event. They are highly regulated and needles are not reused. That you did not see the needle changed does not mean that it did not happen. Please re-read my original replies. EWH---

I understood your previous response. I guess I worry because the person that was there right before me was rumored to be hiv positive. Im just trying to reason with what you previously responded and your responses to others when you stated that hiv usually dies instally and when it dries. I'm not sure if my worry is justified. I feel stupid for even getting a tattoo now.

HIV does become non-infectious upon drying and contact with the atmosphere. Hollow point needles may prolong viability of the virus and therefore infectiousness. I think you are worrying needlessly. My assessment will not change.
You have one follow up remaining. EWH

I confirmed that the particular tattoo procedure that I had (SMP) used solid needles instead of hollow point needles. I'm not sure if or what that changes.

Final response. It appears that you are not reading the information I provided. The chance of transmission when solid needles are used is close to zero.
This is my final response. You need to move on. The answers to your repetitive questions are simply not going to change. The thread will be closed shortly and should you return with further questions your questions maybe deleted without a reply and without return of your posting fee. EWH.
