[Question #13206] Follow up question

So I’m sorry to be here again and I don’t mean to waste your guys time, but more questions have popped in my head that I have,
1. I took doxy pep yesterday around 5:30pm that’s less that 24 hours since my possible exposer, I know you said it’s almost 100 percent for syphilis and chlamydia, but I wanted to ask if it’s still worth me testing in 6 weeks for it, I do have a doctors appointment on the 14 with will be 8 days after the encounter and will be testing for g,c
2.ive read your replies to others and you say its no risk for hiv from receiving oral sex, but there’s a small chance from giving it to another male, should I take a hiv early detection test on the 11 day or so? Or is there no chance I could have gotten it from about 2 minutes total from giving oral
3. Does hepatitis transmite from oral sex, and do I need to test for any other bacterial infection while at the doctors next week?
Again sorry if I’m wasting your time thank you again you have been helpful

Welcome back to the Forum. On this occasion I’ll be answering your questions. In preparing to do so, I reviewed your recent interaction with Dr. Handsfield and agree with all that he said. Most of your follow up questions have been answered directly or indirectly by him. Other than the tiny risk for gonorrhea, your risk for any STI including HIV is infinitesimal, particularly after doxypep. Specific replies:
1. All things considered, your risk for gonorrhea is less than 1% and probably substantially lower. As Dr. Handsfield said, testing is always a personal choice and you may choose to test for the added reassurance a negative test would provide.
2. The estimated risk for getting HIV from performing oral sex is less than 1 in 10,000 and probably lower. The likelihood that your partner had untreated HIV is very low. There are no proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex from an infected person. Again, testing is a personal choice. Should you choose to test, I am confident that it would show that you were not infected.
3. There are no data to suggest that hepatitis is transmitted by giving or receiving oral sex.
Please don’t worry. EWH

So just to clarify, if I were to hypothetically contract syphilis from that encounter the doxy pep I took would stop it or cure it before it even takes place?
