[Question #13208] Thick Ejaculation

Hello Docs

I woke up this morning and masturbated. I noticed my ejaculation was SUPER thick. Like chewed jello thick. I then started to have an ache in my testicles as well but it’s only when I’m like not busy and feel it. Also have straight liquid diarrhea.

I have no painful pee’s, no discharge, and have been tested with clean results besides syphilis. I got tested 11 days after getting a blow job for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Both negative. Got tested 49 days post vaginal sex for HIV and syphilis. I have to restest in two weeks for the blow job for syphilis. I’m male and am straight.

I went to CDC to see if thick sperm is a cause of syphilis and saw a bunch of other STDs I’ve never heard of or got tested for!

NGU, mgen, tric, molluscum and a couple more! Do any of these cause my thick sperm when masturbating? Been 29 days since my last exposure (blow job.)

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  I'll do my best to provide some information.

The exposures you describe, recent receipt of oral sex and a vaginal sex encounter nearly two months ago were both low risk- most people do not have STIs and most single encounters with infected partners do not result in infection.  Further, the absence of symptoms and your negative tests effectively prove that you do not have an STI.  Thick ejaculate is not a sign of STI, including HIV, something that is now verified by your test results.  Your test results for gonorrhea and chlamydia are conclusive and prove that you were not infected with these pathogens.  Your syphilis test is strong but not quite conclusive evidence that you do not have syphilis either.   Finally, the fact that the thick ejaculate you have noticed is a recent occurrence is also evidence that this is unrelated to an STI acquired from the encounters you have mentioned.  You do not need further testing for STI. If this is a persistent problem, I suggest you contact a urologist who can perform other testing for non-STI causes.  EWH

Thanks for the quick answer! I was jist about to go to bed.

So besides syphilis, all my tests are proof it’s not an STI? I do also have a possible rash on my feet. Spread red dots that itch and seem to come and go when I’m stressed. Had it the day I got tested on day 49 and 28 for syphilis and HIV and I know they cause rashed

Also, you don’t think I need to be tested for NGU, mgen, tric, molluscum or the other stds on ASHA’s website? I saw a video saying that if infected with these, it can cause white blood cells in the penis that can make sperm think.

Also, one of the girls has super bad stomach cramps and diarrhea and is nauseous. Is that a sign of anything untreated?

Oh! One last thing before bed. Sorry. Keeps popping in my head as I’m laying here. I also see little white specks in my pee. Like torn toilet paper looking but SUPER small

Sometimes when we started down a path such as worrying about STIs, we find ourselves going down a rabbit hole.  The infections you mention typically cause symptoms such as penile discharge within 2 and certainly 3 weeks.  M. Genitalium, Trich and molluscum are not transmitted through oral sex and the penile discharge does not show up as thick ejaculate.  If the rash were syphilis, your blood test would have been positive.

Testing for the STIs you mention is a personal choice however I remain confident that this is not your problem.  My assessment is unchanged.  I would warn you, however, to stay off of the Internet. We spend much of our time on this form trying to correct misinformation, which is so very common there. EWH.

Thank you, doc! Anxiety no more! I guess I’ll just ask some follow ups so I can go into the urologist with some ground information.

So, all my tests besides syphilis are 100% and get retested in 2 weeks? Unless you think it’s unneeded. I know it’s a personal choice but would you?

STI’s don’t cause diarrhea, thick ejaculation, or stomach cramps/nausea?

The ones I mention don’t transfer orally and I’m too far out from vaginal sex to worry?

If I did get them from vaginal, do they go away in their own if asymptomatic? Is there a chance these one can be asymptomatic?

You do not advise testing for this other ones because they arnt common enough?

I’m taking a break from sex till I figure this all out. Do you think this is necessary or can I go on having sex now?

Thank you! You made this whole thing way easier! Found your website on reviews somewhere and it holds!

Final Responses:

There seem to be two issues here which may or may not be related.  First, did you get an STI from the encounters you describes- you have proven you did not with your testing.  If you choose to test more that is up to you.  If you do, I am confident that you will get more negative tests.  Second, you recently noted that your ejaculate is thicker than you are accustomed to.  This is unlikely to be STI related and is what you should deal with the urologist about.

Responses to your final f/u questions:
So, all my tests besides syphilis are 100% and get retested in 2 weeks? Unless you think it’s unneeded. I know it’s a personal choice but would you?
Syphilis tests will be conclusive at any time more than 6 weeks after your last encounter.  I see no need to repeat other tests but as I've said, that's a personal choice.  If you test, I anticipate that the tests will be negative.

STI’s don’t cause diarrhea, thick ejaculation, or stomach cramps/nausea?
Correct

The ones I mention don’t transfer orally and I’m too far out from vaginal sex to worry?
Correct

If I did get them from vaginal, do they go away in their own if asymptomatic? Is there a chance these one can be asymptomatic?
The major concern for men with asymptomatic infection is transmission to others and, more rarely, complications.  Without treatment, over time (weeks to months) these infections do tend to resolve on their own.

You do not advise testing for this other ones because they arnt common enough?
I do not see a need for additional testing

I’m taking a break from sex till I figure this all out. Do you think this is necessary or can I go on having sex now?
I see no reason to abstain from sex at this time.

I hope the information I have provided has been helpful.  I think testing early on may have been reasonable and now that you have negative tests, it's time to move forward without concern.  I think lingering concerms, amplified by the internet may have increased you anxiety which then led your concerns to grow.  I hope you can move past that.

the thread is now complete.  EWH
