[Question #13218] Std question

Good morning, doctor. I'm writing a new question to inform you that two weeks ago, during a routine check-up, I took tests and both chlamydia and gonorrhea were negative. The girl I met in February wrote on X that she probably contracted gonorrhea in June and urged clients to get tested. I actually encouraged her months before and the results were negative, as I said before. Unfortunately, accidents happen... I don't know how this girl contracted gonorrhea, but I'd like to ask you: are you almost certain that with covered vaginal sex and oral sex, the risk is still low? I haven't been to a soapland for four months. Should I get tested for syphilis and HIV, in your opinion?

I presume that your tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia were obtained after you had been contacted by your former partner. If that is the case, you can be confident that you did not give her gonorrhea, nor did she infect you.
You also ask if condom protected sex is effective for prevention of acquisition of STI‘s- the answer is yes. When condoms are used throughout an encounter and do not break, something that happens about 1% of the time that condoms are used, they provide virtually complete protection for acquisition of gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV, as well as dramatically reducing the risk for other STI’s.
Based on the information provided, I see no need for concern or for additional testing. EWH
