[Question #13223] 6 week Conclusive?

Hi,
I had unprotected vaginal sex with a sex worker in Bali while drunk.  It only lasted 10 seconds. I did not orgasm either.
I tested negative at week 3 and day 43 post exposure using 4th generation test.
I read online that 12 week test is needed to be conclusive? Is this true or is 6 week test good enough? .

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment. The Internet has misinformed you.  Results of fourth generation, combination, HIV antigen/antibody tests are entirely conclusive anytime more than six weeks following an encounter. Your results are conclusive and proved that you do not have HIV. There is no need for further testing. I encourage you to move forward without concern. EWH.---

Hi, thanks for quick reply.
I was just worried as I’m 10 weeks since possible exposure and have flu like symptoms.
I also have mild pains in my arms, but this may be due to anxiety and stress of the whole situation.
So I’m all good anyway?
Thanks again

If you were going to develop flu like symptoms from recently acquired HIV that would have occurred within 30 days of exposure.  Your negative tests prove that your symptoms are due to something other than HIV and unrelated to the encounter you described.  Don’t let the internet mislead you.  EWH---

We provide up to three responses to each client’s questions.  This 3rd response is repetitive.  Following the reply the thread will be closed.  There really should be no need for further questions.

Further testing for HIV is a waste of time and resources.  The results will not change.  Be confident that you do not get HIV FROM from the encounter that you described.  EWH
