[Question #13341] Saliva exposure
|
Hi, I got a massage today, therapist fully clothed, no oral but she did use saliva as lubricant and applied to my penis, I was incredibly shocked, I am now so so worried that I’m at risk of STI, am I panicking for no reason ? Needless to say I got dressed and left straight away

Welcome back to the Forum. Thanks for your continued confidence in our service. I'll be glad to comment. Receipt of masturbation, even when saliva is used for lubrication is an entirely no risk activity. While small quantities of bacteria are sometimes present in saliva, transmission through transfer on a persons hands or even directly (it is not unusual for masseuses to spit of a persons penis to provide lubrication) are ENTIRELY no risk events. The organisms become non-infectious on contact with the environment outside of the body and even when present, the amount of bacteria present is too small to result in infection. There are no proven cases of STIs transmitted in this way and you will not be the first. There is no need for concern and no need for testing.
As a reminder, 8 months ago you asked another question about masturbation and as part of his response Dr. Handsfield said "Hand-genital contact carries no risk for any STD, even if genital fluids are used for lubrication." If there were any risk the risk would be present when genital secretions are used for lubrication. The events you describe are lower risk still. Please don't worry. EWH
