[Question #13358] Questions #13258 & #13281 - Biopsy Result

Doctors, I'm back, 6 weeks later.
Biopsy result:
Histology:
Tissue: R perineal area (it was my pubic area so I don't know why it says that)
Clinical Diagnosis: R/out HPV
Gross: Container label: R perineal area. A shaved fragment of tan skin tissue 0.3 cm (very thin specimen).
Microscopic: There is a polypoid fragment of skin with papillomatosis acanthosis of the epidermis, hypergranulosis and overlying hyperkeratosis with focal parakeratosis. Koilocytes are not prominent. The epidermal retr pegs are elongated and exhibit anastomosis in the superficial dermis which also houses slightly dilated vessels. The findings are compatible with a condyloma.
Diagnosis: R Perineal Area: Condyloma Acuminatum
I'm confused because I understand condyloma acuminatum means HPV but it says koilocytes are not prominent.
Again, this was a single lesion, hair growing out of it, in my pubic hair region on the right side between my shaft and inguinal fold like that area. Not the shaft or inguinal fold. I was told on the website that based on that information that there's no realistic chance it was a wart. Please advise.

Sigh. Papillomatous acanthosis is a non-specific, as are hypergranulousis and parakeratosis. As I've already told you, koilocytes, can be due to something other than HPV. My assessment is unchanged and your findings are not alarming. Even if the lesion was a wart, given the location, it may or may not have been a genital wart. I advise you to speak with your dermatologist.
No matter what this is, as both Dr. Handsfield and I have told you, this is simply not that big a deal. Try to control your anxiety.
From your earlier apparent anxiety and expressed concern, I must warn you that this will need to be the final set of questions from you on this topic. Once the thread is complete (you have two follow-ups remaining) the thread will be closed and no further questions will be accepted. Should you continue to post, your post may be deleted without a response and without return of your posting fee. You need to take this up with your doctor. eWH

No anxiety here. I've read a lot of HPV over the last 6 weeks so I understand it. I'm simply asking for your interpretation of the biopsy results as do I have HPV or was it something else?

As I interpret your biopsy (I am not a dermatologist or a dermatopathologist) this biopsy does not say that you have HPV. if you have HPV, it does not say, given the unusual location and nature of the lesion, that it is a genital wart type of HPV.
One follow-up remaining. EWH

Doesn't condyloma acuminatum mean wart which means HPV? I'm still confused.

Final answer. It is suggestive. That is why I told you to talk with your doctor.
