[Question #13367] HSV1 Negative IGG

I am negative for HSV1 and 2 per Western Blot prior to exposure.

My exposure was unprotected sex and possibly indirect exposure by saliva. Partner is HSV1 positive and has had cold sores, unsure if infected genitally as well. No oral sex. They were sucking on my nipples and then touched them, and I’m concerned that they could have been shedding virus and that got in their hands and transferred to my genitals when they manually stimulated me. Also, worried about sex being unprotected.

I received a negative result for HSV1 via Roche test with LabCorp. I have read that at 4 weeks 60% of people who are going to be positive will be positive, but that was for HSV2, is it reasonable to think that the same would apply for HSV1?

Is this a good sign that I have tested negative at 4 weeks? I plan to test again at 6, 8, and 12 weeks. Is there a good possibility that I will stay negative?

I haven’t noticed any symptoms genitally. But I do have some white streaks on my lower gums that appeared this past Monday morning. Does this sound herpetic?

Was my exposure low risk? I dismiss the person as well, but no cold sores at the time.

Thank you.
