[Question #13376] HSV-2 RISK WITH CSW

Good afternoon,

I have used CSW services for quite some time and have always used condoms for vaginal sex and in prior years did not use condoms for oral although that has changed in the last year where oral is now always protected as well. 3 days ago, I used the services of a CSW who is known to also offer penetrative sex without a condom. I used protection with said CSW for both oral and vaginal. What is the likelihood that I would contract HSV-2? She claimed to be clean and showed me photos of a multitude of prescriptions she uses everyday that I assume are used to prevent transmission. I’m feeling a bit uneasy about this exposure and looking for expert advice to calm my mind.

Condoms reduce transmission of HSV 2 from females to males by 65% so they are useful but not perfect.
One does not acquire HSV 2 from receiving oral sex, that would be HSV 1, if it happens at all. We don't have data on transmission of HSV 1 from the mouth of one person to the genitals of another.  When you say her prescriptions, did it include acyclovir or valacyclovir  or famciclovir?

To clarify both oral and vaginal were covered with condom. I can’t remember exactly what the names of the prescriptions were but she insisted that she was “clean”. Assuming she does have HSV-2 what is the likelihood that I would contract? How soon would I see symptoms of HSV-2? I’ve gotten tested before and was positive for HSV-1 which I understand is very common.
