[Question #13466]

I apologize in advance I am in no way trying to circumvent the process, but I've tried logging in multiple attempts with no success
to follow up about 13 days after the unprotected oral <1 minute and protected vaginal sex of <4 minutes, it seems i developed a bump right about where the condom probably ended on the shaft. It does not seem ulcerated, but it is round and raised. Does not hurt and looks a little irrated. To me it appears as a inflamed Fordyce Spot but irrated. I do have other forydce spots on the shaft just not irrated. My concern is i've had groin pain on my left side a few days after discovering that, it was a dull ache and its primarly only on the left side. This bump on the right side of the shaft. The bump looks alittle inflamed today after looking reduced a few days ago and probably from some friction . My question is does this sound like Syphilis, i read that groin pain or lymph node swelling is a symptom from other posts. I'm now overly concerned. I did not have any uthreal discomfort since the and  the groin pain has mainly disappeared now

.

I plan on going to the City sexual clinic to get this evaluated tomorrow , should i be overly concerned, is testing recommended, i believe they use the RPR test as i've been tested with it the past.
Incase this turns out to be that should i be concerned with HIV as well now, since there is a link between the two? the only symptom i've had so far is slight headaches and throat irritation for about two days as well as hot flashes but my blood pressure has been on the high side all well. Today makes 23 days since exposure.

Thank you again and my apologies

Welcome back to the Forum.  Thanks for your continuing confidence in our service.  I'll go straight to your follow-up question.  The lesion you describe certainly does not sound like a typical syphilitic lesion which would have quickly evolved to form an open ulceration.  Your plan to seek evaluation by a trained clinician at your Sexual health Clinic is the right thing to do.  The lesion you describe could be an irritated Fordyce spot or perhaps folliculitis which could certainly occur in the area you describe.  Your groin pain may or may not be related to the lesion you note- it also could be a result of repeated self examination, folliculitis or some other unrelated process.  It could also be normal.

As RPR will provide helpful information and I encourage you to believe the results.  My assessment and advice related to any risk of HIV remain unchanged- I see virtually no risk for HIV from the encounter you describe.  Your symptoms, including your mild headache do not raise a concern for HIV.

Please let us know what the clinicians at the Sexual Health Clinic say- we learn from hearing what they say and it helps us to help others.  In the meantime, please don't worry.  EWH
