[Question #13514] French kissing

Dear Doctor,
Last night I brushed my teeth and I saw blood after that in my saliva.
Also this morning again.
After 2 minutes there was no visible blood there anymore.
I think this is happening due a bit of lack of mouth hygiene the last weeks.

Do I need to worry for french kissing for STD or STI?

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your question and for your implied confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to comment. You don’t say anything about the nature of whom you are kissing, so my responses will be rather general.

There is very little risk of acquiring any STI from kissing, including French kissing in which saliva is exchanged. Oral STI‘s are relatively uncommon and the oral cavity is somewhat resistant to acquisition of infection. When a partner has an oral STI or there is an oral exposure most single encounters do not result in infection.  There are very rare instances in which gonorrhea has been documented to be transmitted through French kissing but again, this is rare.  Your oral bleeding may reflect gum, disease, or some other process that does not change The fact that French kissing is a very low risk activity in terms of STI acquisition.  There is no evidence to suggest that a process leading to blood in your mouth changes the fact that there is no known link between kissing of any sort and HIV risk.

I hope this information is helpful.  EWH

I think I don’t need to worry much.. and let everything go.
We had great sex several times and with condom. We Did everything with a condom and all stayed good with no damages .. we did it just very safe and I was aware of what I’m doing

I don’t require testing I guess ?
