Terri, I’m sorry my other account wouldn’t let me login.
I wanted to make sure that I clarified that for the sno cone situation my dad also used the same spoon as me. You might have already inferred that, but I didn’t explicitly mention it and make sure you know.
Do you still think this isn’t a risk even though we used the same spoon?

I understood that yes, but thanks for the clarification. I know there is a lot of literature around that says people can get cold sores from sharing a spoon or a drink, but in 40 years specializing in this area, I've never seen it and think it must indeed be very rare, if it happens at all
