[Question #13578] Small bump on vagina

Hi! Wanted to get advice. This morning, there was a small lump it looked like a cyst on my vagina directly next to my clitoris. It was probably the size of a dime when i first noticed it. It was right after clitoral stimulation that I noticed it so I’m not sure if it appeared after that or if it was there before. It didn’t hurt or anything, just looked like a fatty lump. Through the day it’s gotten smaller. I can barely see it now. I wanted to know if this is something I should get checked, I wasn’t sure because it’s shrunk a lot now since this morning. I’ve never noticed it after stimulation so I was worried it was herpes or somrthing but I have no other spots or symptoms. It also doesn’t look like a blister just a fatty lump. I wanted to get advice from a professional. Does this sound like herpes? Or just irritation or a cyst?

It does not sound like herpes - no - for a few reasons.  Herpes lesions are normally at least tender, if not downright painful to the touch and they don't go away over the course of one day.  This is likely something very different indeed.

Thanks for your answer. I went to the gyno today anyways and she said it looked normal because it’s barely there now and was sure it wasn’t herpes. I asked to swab and she said there was nothing to swab  because it looked like normal tissue just a little swollen. I’m always worried that it could be an atypical herpes thing. would you test for herpes through blood or anything  if you were me or should I forget about this?

Have you ever seen a case where herpes outbreak is just one bump with no fluid or anything ? Is this possible?

Herpes can present as a bump, yes, but it lasts longer than what you describe.  I'm glad you were seen in person and no one was concerned that this was HSV.  It sounds to me like your skin responds to some irritation with fluid in a bump.  I hope you can put this worry to rest.

There was no fluid, just a lump it looked like a cyst. It is gone now. What would a singular herpes bump look like ? Do they ever not have fluid?

I don't think a cyst would necessarily go away that fast, but if there was a lot of friction in the area, that might account for the bump.  Herpes lesions most often have fluid in them yes, clear fluid and they burst open and ulcerate and scab.  Sometime, outbreaks can be aborted - that is, they don't go through all those steps but this one has gone away so quickly, that seems unlikely if you've never had more typical outbreaks.  Have you ever been tested for HSV in the past?

I had a swab test done last year when I had irritation (I think from the same thing, stimulation)  and it was negative. I don’t think I’ve ever been tested otherwise. It was directly after stimulation and then went away pretty fast after. Just a swollen puffy lump no fluid. Would you recommend a blood test or no? I just have such bad anxiety/OCD around STIs. There is nothing there today. Would you get tested in my position?

It also didn’t hurt I just noticed it as I was using the bathroom directly after. I’m so anxious about it even though it was gone a few hours after. My gyno told me it looked normal just swollen but I’m still super anxious.

Sorry one last thing, I read blood tests can give a lot of false positive or negative so I didn’t know if that’s even something I should do if I have no symptoms other then that one thing. Please Let me know what you think, or calm my nerves. Thank you

I would not recommend testing at all in this circumstance, no.  And I don't think bump was HSV, no.
