[Question #13604] chlamydia and gonorrhea tesr

I’m having some front scrotum / testicle pain on one side…. I’m concerned I had two unprotected encounters with the same woman last week (vaginal sex).  She was tested prior to our encounter at my request and everything was negative, was shown the test.

What could this be?

If she peed to close to the urine test, what are the odds of a false negative?

Thanks

Welcome back to the forum. I'll try to help, but you provide few details of the circumstances.

The pain you describe doesn't fit well with any STI. The main STI cause of testicular pain is epididymitis -- i.e. infection in the testicle due to gonorrhea or chlamydia. But usually the pain is quite severe and begins after several days of abnormal discharge from the penis and painful urination. That your partner urinated soon before she was tested doesn't mean anything; her negative test results are reliable. (It is recommended to delay testing if someone has urinated recently, but day to day experience over many years shows it makes no difference.

I would suggest sitting tight for a few days. If the pain worsens, the testicle swells up, and/or you start to have penile discharge, see a doctor or clinic right away for exam and testing. If the discomfort clears up in a day or two, I wouldn't give it another thought. Most likely this has nothing to do with your recent sexual encounter.

Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks for the quick reply, you mentioned I supplied few details.  Please advise what additional info may be helpful.

I’ve had this “sore” feeling for a few days.  When I push on the are above the testicle it gets worse, and seems to be worse as the day goes on.

No other symptoms like discharge or painful urination.

Also the soreness is above my actual testicle and in the front area.

Is it true that epidimytis pain is typically in the back of the scrotum / testicle?

Thanks again

Of course not all women are equally likely to be carrying STIs. You say nothing about your partner:  sex worker? friend? bar pick-up? These of course make a difference in the chance you might have been exposed.

Your symptoms do not fit with epididymitis. I've never heard of epididymitis symptoms located in the places you mention. But only mild pain and no obvious enlargement of a testicle is strong evidence against it, as is absence of discharge and painful urination.

These comments do not change my advice above about whether or when to consider seeking medical care.

She is a friend for clarification purposes.
I woke up and my testicle is still sore.  It feels like a lump on top of the actual testicle, very sore to touch.

This morning my lower abdomen on that side is sore as well.  Still no discharge or painful urination.

I spoke with the woman, and she had a kidney infection 2 weeks prior to the test that required a duration of antibiotics.

How confident are you in her labcorp results for chlamydia and gonorea?

Could this be epiditmitus from e-coli from a lingering kidney infection she had?

What else could this be, as I’m still uncomfortable and have soreness in my abdomen?

With the increasing pain and swelling, epdidiymitis might be a possibility after all. I've already said your partner'e negative gonorrhea/chlamydia results are reliable:  those tests are very good. E. coli can indeed cause epididymitis, but usually is not sexual transmitted.

As indicated above, your next step needs to see a doctor in person, ideally a urologist. I remain confident that no STD is a likely cause of the problem.

That completes the two follow-up comments and replies included with each message and so ends this thread. I hope the discussion was helpful. If it turns out I'm wrong and a doctor diagnoses any kind of STD, please return to the forum to let us know:  if that becomes necessary and you have an STD, we will refund your new positing fee. Good luck with this.
