Hello,
I have completed 22 days of PEP and initiated it 30 hours after exposure; however, I recently forgot my pills at home and am traveling outside of the USA now.
Will 22 days of PEP (Truvada + Dolutegravir) be effective? I know 28 says is recommended, but should I even worry about this. I appreciate your help.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. Unfortunately, the studies of PEP all used a 28 day medication duration and there are no good data on shorter medication courses. I would guess that there would be a substantial reduction in risk of infection with 22 days but this is a guess not informed by clinical trial data.
If you could tell me about the exposure that has led you to take PEP I may be able to further assess your risk for infection. EWH
