Hello,

Quick question, had an encounter with somebody who has not tested herself in a while, not sure whether I can get her to test now.

Unprotected oral [I received], after which I stopped and asked her status, she said she didn't know, didn't proceed further.

Can you confirm that I am at no risk for HIV from receiving a blow job only from a person of unknown status?.
I am worried a bit because she said she hasn't tested in a long time. This was someone at a party, I did ask her later if she can test, she did not respond, so I'm thinking she won't test herself.

I took 200 mg of Doxy to cover for everything else, to an extent. And I am HSV1 asymptomatic,  and it being oral, I am not worried about HSV2.

I am mainly worried about HIV,  am I at risk, should I test or if you were in my situation, would you test or safely resume intimacy with any other near future partner without worrying at all.

Is there any other precaution/ medication or tests I need to take for any other STIs I might be at risk from this encounter

Thank you

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your questions.  The encounter you describe was virtually no risk.  Good job on asking her if she’s been tested.  Despite having not been tested recently, she is statistically unlikely to be infected with any STI including HIV.  Further, even most single unprotected exposures to partners with any STI do not result in infection.  In your case, condom use reduces any minuscule risk further, to close to zero.  With regard to HIV, there is no appreciable risk.  There are no proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex.  While testing is always a personal decision, I see no scientific reason for concern or for testing.  EWH---

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
Just to be clear, there was no condom,  it was an unprotected blow job I received, and is my understanding correct there is no risk of HIV [zero for practical purposes] from receiving an unprotected blowjob and I dont need to test if this is the only act of contact in this episode.

Appreciate your response, thanks.

I misread your question- my apologies.  Even without a condom however there was no meaningful risk for HIV.  No reason for concern, no scientific reason for testing.  EWH---

Thank you, last question, can I resume any unprotected sexual relations with another partner, without having to worry about this incident and without testing.

Yes.  I consider it safe to resume unprotected sex with your regular partner.  No need for further testing or concern.  Time to move forward.  EWH---
