[Question #13706] STI risk from unprotected Handjob and protected oral at a strip club

Hi
2 weeks ago I (male 38 years old) got an unprotected handjob and protected oral from a stripper (female thirties) of unknown status. I’m not sure if her hands had bodily fluids (spit, vaginal, etc.) but please assume there was a chance of exposure to bodily fluids for the handjob. I wore a condom the entirety of the duration of oral sex.
- Which STI would I be at risk for
- I got tested today, 2 weeks post exposure. Results pending. Would my results for syphilis, trich, mycoplasma hominis, ureaplasma, and mycoplasma genitalia be conclusive?
- Preemptively I was prescribed doxycycline (100mg twice a day). When would this stop syphilis from being contagious.
- When can I resume unprotected sex from my partner.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions and your implied confidence in our service. I'll be glad to comment. The encounter you describe was virtually no risk with no need for testing. You do not know that your partner has an STI and statistically, despite her sex work, she is unlikely to. More importantly, receipt of masturbation is a no risk activity, even when a partner's genital secretions get on the person receiving masturbation. There is general agreement on this fact by experts (including us) as well as the CDC and WHO. Similarly, condoms are highly effective for STI prevention and as long as the condom was worn throughout the encounter, you can be confident in the protection it provided. In response to your specific question:
---
- Which STI would I be at risk for? None- see above. Receipt or unprotected oral sex is occasionally associated with gonorrhea which, if acquired, becomes obviously symptomatic within 3-5 days of an encounter. Other STIs are quite uncommon. The doxycycline you took would prevent chlamydia and syphilis.
- I got tested today, 2 weeks post exposure. Results pending. Would my results for syphilis, trich, mycoplasma hominis, ureaplasma, and mycoplasma genitalia be conclusive? Your test will be conclusive timewise. You had some unnecessary tests- ureaplasma and mycoplasma hominis are bacteria which are normally present in the genital tract. I am confident that the tets for real STIs will be negative.
- Preemptively I was prescribed doxycycline (100mg twice a day). When would this stop syphilis from being contagious. Syphilis and chlamydia would be prevented had you been exposed after 5-7 days of medication.
- When can I resume unprotected sex from my partner. You are in the clear and can resume unprotected sex with your regular partner any time.
