[Question #13756] Std question - UTI or herpes?

Hi,

I had unprotected sex with my usual partner on Saturday, we had sex twice in a row and I peed about 2 hours after. I woke up today, Monday, burning with peeing and severe discomfort. I took a flashlight to my vagina and everything looked normal except I noticed a small amount of thick discharge inside the vagina, but only inside, not on my underwear or while wiping. I went to urgent care and had small amounts of blood, protein, and leukocytes in my urine so they prescribed me nitrofurantoin and phenazopyrodine 200mg. They tested me for the usual STDs which will come back within a few days. I don’t feel much relief from the azo yet and it’s making my mind spiral into thinking this could be herpes. Does herpes cause uti- like symptoms with no sores?

I’m super anxious that I’m going to wake up one of these days and it’s going to feel worse or that I’m going to have sores everywhere. I just have severe burning when peeing and discomfort when I’m just sitting here.

You've been warned about and acknowledged your excessive anxiety driven questions and even pledged to stop. Although you have been given a pass the last couple of times, that must come to an end. Neither the situation you describe, your symptoms, nor the urine findings suggest any STI. It takes a few days for UTI treatment to resolve symptoms; that the azo product isn't helping your symptoms does not suggest an STI. This forum is not a substitute for direct medical care, which we do not provide.
