Received a handjob four months ago and have been paranoid since. Developed balanitis from excessive cleaning. Have had all tests negative inc an HSV blood test but now have inflamed red spot with white lumps below corona/glans, under foreskin. It’s among fordyce spots/papules and I’m sure they were there before.  Could this be HSV or HPV?

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  Receipt of masturbation is a no risk activity in terms of STI risk.  Your tests prove this.  It sounds like you are uncircumcised.  If that is the dase, that, combined with excessive, anxiety-drive cleaning can make yeast infections or minor bacterial infections more likely.  You need to be examined by a trained clinician who can help you decide how to best manage this rash but I am confident it is not HPV and almost certainly in sot HSV.  EWH---

Thank you Dr Hook, this is most helpful.  The balanitis I developed afterwards was on the glans and was treated with Clotrimazole. This presents like inflamed fordyce spots or papules, white/yellow ish lumps on a red irritated patch of skin - so perhaps is also balanitis. I will arrange to be examined.  Can I ask a follow-up please - if the person who masturbated me had also masturbated someone else shortly before, does this increase HSV/HPV risk, or does transmission remain unlikely?  Thanks again for your time.

You are correct- if the person who masturbated you had recently masturbated another person with an STI, including HPV or HSV there is still no meaningfu risk that it would be transferred to you.  Nothing to worry about.  EWH---
