Hi- wanted to follow up on my previous question. I did test for oral chlamydia and goborrhea, however it was at 3 days post exposure. Is that too soon or do you think that 3 days is enough for a naat?

Welcome back to the forum. All questions related to possible herpes infections go to Terri who specializes in that topic. Separately, Dr. Handsfield and I address questions regarding other STI‘s. On this occasion, I will answer your questions regarding non-herpes STI’s.

Performing oral sex on a partner with unknown infection status is a low risk of it. Most people do not have STI‘s. When they do most single exposures do not result in acquisition of STIs.  The pharynx is a relatively uncommon site for acquisition of STI. In your case, you also report having throat swabs for gonorrhea and chlamydia three days following your exposure. These tests are highly sensitive and provide accurate results as soon as three days following an exposure. Based on the information you have provided there is little reason to be concerned about having acquired an STI of any sort from the encounter you describe.  My advice is to put your fears aside and move forward without further testing or concern.

I hope this addresses your questions. If there are further concerns about non-herpes STI’s please use your up to to follow ups for clarification. EWH.

Thanks for the additional information. I would still have confidence in the test results and encourage you to move forward without concern. I see no reason for further test testing.

You have one follow up remaining. EWH.

This is repetitive and my answer will not change.  Please believe your test results and move forward without continuing concerns.

This thread is now complete.  There should be no need to return.  EWH
