[Question #13877] Oral sex

I received an oral sex from a lady. When I checked in internet about hiv risk, some people are saying It is riskier and some people are saying if I receive blowjob, there is no risk. So is there any difference between receiving and giving oral sex. I only received blowjob.

Can I continue unprotected sex with my wife?

Why different doctors are saying different about oral sex hiv risk. Some doctors are saying if you receive blowjob, it is riskier and other doctors are saying no risk for receiving blowjob /oral sex.?
Really confusing

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  I'll be glad to provide information to you.

Oral sex is the least biologically "efficient" form of penetrative sex in terms of STI, including HIV risk.  Compared to vaginal sex with an infected partner is less likely to lead to acquistion of STIs including HIV.  The most common bacterial STI acquired from receipt of oral sex is gonorrhea which typically become obviously symptomatic 3-5 days after the encounter.  Chlamydia and trichomonas are less likely as is syphilis.  There are4 NO proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex from and untreated infected partner.

Giving oral sex to an infected partner is somewhat higher risk but the risk is still low.  The estimated risk for getting HIV from giving oral sex to an HIV infected, untreated partner is about one infection in 10,000 episodes and that estimate is probably an over estimate.

I cannot tell you about why you have received the incorrect information you describe.  There's lots of incorrect information on the internet.   EWH

Sir,
1) you wrote reply in end of second paragraph that there are 4  No of proven cases. Is that a typing mistake, since English is my second language, I want to clarify it

2) in your opinion, receipt of blowjob can  get hiv, but there are no proven cases. I mean chances are nearly less.

3) French kissing / biting hiv risk
I mean what is risk of hiv from French kissing and biting. Is there any proven cases.?

1.  My statement is correct. There are no proven cases of HIV acquired from receipt of oral sex.
2.  Theoretically, there is a chance, in much the same way that there is a chance that you will be struck by lightning while reading this response. It is not something to worry about.
3.  Zero from French kissing.  There is a theoretical risk of getting HIV from a bite from an HIV infected person that breaks the skin

One follow up question remaining.  EWH

Thanks for your reply. It was much informative.
 1) is there any proven case of hiv infection  from biting. Girl had bitten me casually, not sure if it broke skin. I mean biting is only theoretically risk?

2) also I forgot tell you that, I had sucked her breast too. I thinking if there was any milk, can it cause hiv infection?. Because from child to mother hiv infection happened through mother's milk. I am little confused now. For hiv infection through breast milk happens, does it requirecontinuous drinking of breast milk?. My question can hiv infection happen if I suck breast milk randomly or it requires continuous breast milk sucking?

I am sorry, If it feels impolite because English is my second language. Please bear with me if there is any mistake in the question

1.  I am not aware of a case of HIV acquired as a result of biting during a sexual encounter.

2.  Ingestion if breast milk would not put you at risk in the unlikely event that she had untreated HIV.  Only newborn children who have different gastrointestinal tract absorption can become infected through swallowing breast milk from an infected person.

The 3rd response completes this thread which will now be closed.  In my opinion you are worrying entirely too much.  EWH
