[Question #13898] Gonnorhea or another std

Hello. Monday I had unprotected oral sex from a random guy. I was the inserter. I ejaculated in his mouth. Same day I started feeling pain and thought it was anxiety. Couple days go by and felt random pains at the top of penis and testicle but wasn't constant. Friday morning I decided to get tested for gonorrhea and Chlamydia. I'm still waiting results. Saturday I woke up was a little crust at the top of penis and some small white discharge. I when I peed I didn't feel much pain but after it hurts. Should I get treated now? Will my results show from the test Friday.
How long until after treatment should I be non contagious? What should be the appropriate dose as this probably the second time I had gonnorhea?

Is it also possible to get treated too soon?

I also took doxypep within 2 hrs of the act. Can that cause complications with treatment.

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  I’ll be glad to comment.  This was a low risk encounter .  Most people do not have STIs and oral infections are less common than infection at other sites.  Even if your partner was infected, STIs following receipt of oral sex are relatively uncommon when compared to risk from insertive anal or vaginal exposure.  I should add that the onset of your symptoms was too soon to be an STI ( symptom onset typically takes 3 or more days).  DoxyPEP virtually eliminates any possibility of syphilis or chlamydia and reduced the already tiny risk of gonorrhea by about 50%.  Your test was taken at a time when the results will be reliable and I anticipate that they will show that you were not infected.

I should add that a small amount of discharge, particularly on awakening is normal and usually unobserved unless one is looking for it.m STI symptoms would not be intermittent either.

I would not worry.  Please share your test results when you get them- this would be helpful to others who visit the Forum.  EWH

Right now it's Saturday. About 5 days since and I developed crust and pee stream splitting. I went to my urgent care and got treated and got treated along with giving a urine test. Blood was slightly found in the testing. The burning sensation wasn't severe but enough to be hesitant to urinate. I normally don't have any discharge in the morning. Could this be something else if not an STI?
Also the doxypep was expired by October of last year.

The expiration dates on doxycycline are generous and it was likely effective.

Blood in your urinalysis could reflect repeated self-examination or possibly a kidney stone.  A small amount can be normal.

Your symptoms may have been due to non-chlamydial NGU resulting from introduction of your partner’s oral bacteria into your urethra.  This process typically resolves without treatment and is not a hazard to partners- many experts would not treat it.  If treated it is typically treated with doxycycline or azithromycin,  what were you treated with?

You have one follow up remaining.  EWH

So my test from Friday and from Saturday tested negative for gonnorhea and clamydia. Even though I woke up that morning with a yellowish crust and white discharge that I normally don't have.

Also up until the doctor visit I had discharge like when I previously had gonnorhea but milder pain when urinating. I just figured because I caught it earlier the symptoms didn't fully come in. Since my tests came negative, is it possible I tested too early or a had something else. Besides the injections I was given doxy to take for 7 days twice a day.

Is it safe to resume unprotected sex with my partner without worrying about infecting her?

I'm not sure if you read my earlier reply or not.  I'm not surprised at the result.  AS I said to you above, " Your symptoms may have been due to non-chlamydial NGU resulting from introduction of your partner’s oral bacteria into your urethra.  This process typically resolves without treatment and is not a hazard to partners- many experts would not treat it.  If treated it is typically treated with doxycycline or azithromycin,  what were you treated with?"

YOU DID NOT TEST TOO EARLY!  YOUR RESULTS ARE RELIABLE.

Normally, I'd end the thread now but I repat- what were you treated with?  With this information I may be able to provide further information before I close the thread.  Otherwise the thread will be closed.  EWH

I was treated with 500 mg shot of ciprofloxacin and given 100 mg of doxycycline hyclate to take twice a day for a week.

Final response.  If your symptoms are due to NGU of any sort, the doxycycline you have been prescribed would cure it.

There is no reason for you to abstain from unprotected sex with your regular partner.  Please don't worry.  EWH
