Hi team, just a super quick question since I am in Canada I got tested for HSV 1&2 with the immunoblot it returned non-reactive results through dynacare an affiliate of Labcorp am I able to move on from my last sexual experience and accept the fact that I do not have HSV 1 & 2. I understand the western blot is the gold standard my partner has hsv-1 which I could really care less about but I want to ensure I do not transfer hsv 2 to her as well since we are getting married and planning to have children. Appreciate the continued hard work and dedication by your team.

The western blot is the gold standard but it is now not easy to get in Canada.  The Labcorp test is very good for HSV 2 now - I think you can believe this result.  But if you want still to do the blot I can help you at westoverheights.com

Exactly Terri it’s so upsetting my test has now been stopped twice by border patrol. I do just want to preface that dynacare does not say the brand of test performed can I still trust this result for hsv2? They are an affiliate of labcorp here in Canada but it could have been any number of different immunoblots used.

Are you sure this was an immunoblot, not a regular IgG test?  I was not aware that LabCorp was doing immunoblots.  The problem with immunoblots is false positives, not false negatives.  That's not to say false negatives don't happen but that not a known issue with this particular test.  Yes, we are having difficulty getting blot kits through customs now.  Not sure what has changed, but we've not had this issue previously.  I am now encouraging all of my Canadian patients to come to the closest US city for testing if they want the western blot.  I'm working on identifying labs closest to all the provinces where patients can go to be drawn if they want the blot.  Not sure what else to do about this.

It just says immunoblot igg test on the lab report I imagine that it is an immunoblot and if I could make the hop over to a us city right now I would. But I do feel reassured knowing that the issue with immunoblots falls outside of false negatives and will get married without concern! Thank you again Terri
