[Question #13970] HIV

Good Evening, Experts

Thank you for this service.

I have seen Dr HH’s comments on the Healthtap page, where he says that one will never catch HIV until they have unprotected sexual intercourse or share injection needles with infected partners. This was comforting to read.

I guess this clears up my situation, however, I would be glad if you could put me at ease.

Very unlike me, I had a lapse of judgement whilst my wife was out of town and hooked up with an unknown woman at a concert. She invited me back to her place.

She gave me a handjob, using body cream for lubrication. I also licked her breasts and we kissed deep with tongue.

I see Dr EH has answered other questions on this page, saying that kissing of any kind (closed mouth or deep) is no risk for HIV, even if there’s cuts in the mouth.

I do not know this woman’s STI status. However, I believe from your expert replies that I was at no risk for HIV or other STI’s from these events and don’t need any testing based on medicine (even if this woman had HIV or anything else).

I am uncircumcised and not sure if this woman had any vaginal fluids or blood on her hands when she masterbated me and touched my urethra.

Please can you advise:

If I am clear of HIV;
If I am clear of other STI’s; and
If I can resume unprotected sex with my wife

Many thanks
AJ

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions.  Thanks as well for reviewing other threads on the Forum.  We make them available so visitors to be used in just the way you've done.  Your summary of our statements is right on target.  The encounter and activities you describe did not put you at risk for any STI, including HIV.  There is no scientific reason for testing and no need to abstain from unprotected sex with your wife because of the activities you describe.

Please don't worry.  EWH
