[Question #14000] Engaged in oral sex at massage parlor

Back in late Jan this year, I engaged in oral sex (mouth to penis) with a massage girl (I'm a male) in Asia. I was told the risk is so small that i can ignore, and no testing for hiv was advised.
Anyways recently i came across my metabolic panel taken at 11.5 weeks (or 3 weeks ago) after the possible hiv exposure in Jan, my protein level was normal. 4.4 albumin, 2.3 serum globulin. In normal range.
My understanding is A/G is NOT hiv diagnostic test and non-specific.
Having said that, i heard hypergammaglobulinemia (low ag ratio), or high protein levels are common in hiv untreated patients. I would like to hear your opinion from my low risk and normal AG ratio at 11.5 weeks? does it mean my immune response has not countered chronic inflamation or antibody production like most hiv patients would have typically presented with elevated globulins?
Does it sound like a reassurance in my case?
Thanks docs

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment. Your encounter did not put you at risk for HIV. There are no proven cases of HIV attributed to receipt of HIV, thus even in the unlikely event that your partner had HIV, there is no appreciable risk.
You re correct that A/G ratios are non- specific and unrelated to HIV. I see no reason for concern and no scientific reason for testing. Should you choose to test for reassurance, results at this time will be conclusive and I am confident that they would show that you were not infected.
Please don’t worry. EWH

Thanks Doc. i tried not to think about it but sometimes it still hit me. Do you think most people are not worried about such exposure, and why? Most experts dont even suggest testing for Hiv, only some STDs

Sexual activity is societally stigmatized and as a result persons all too often become anxious for that reason. My opinion. EWH---

I should stop worried? No need to test for the encounter? Thanks Dr Hook

Final response to this repetitive question. Unlike for vaginal or anal intercourse which are well described to be associated with risk for HIV, there are no proven cases of HIV related to receipt of oral sex. You are not going to be the first.
We provide up to 3 responses to each client’s questions. This is the final response. The thread will be closed shortly. EWH
