[Question #14021] HIV?

Hi doctor. 16 days ago I, 33 male, attended a sauna. There I met a guy of unknown status. He gave me a hand job, then I rubbed my penis against his anus( I am sure that I did not insert myself in him). Now this morning I woke up with a mild scratchy throat (it does not hurt when I swallow), pain in my neck where my lymph nodes are and pain in my arm pit (mild discomfort).

1. Could I have gotten hiv from this? He did have lube in the crack of his anus?

2. Are these ARS symptoms?

3. I took a rapid insti finger prick test today and it was negative. If these were hiv ars symptoms would that test be positive?

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.

This was definitely a no risk event. HIV has never been known to be transmitted by hand-genital contact, or by penile-anal contact without penetration. Your symptoms don't wound at all worrisome -- probably just the physical manifestations of anxiety. Your negative finger prick test also proves that HIV isn't the cause of your symptoms, i.e. you don't have ARS.

Those comments answer your three numbered questions, but to confirm:  1) No you could not have acquired HIV in this manner. 2) Your symptoms are not caused by ARS. 3) Yes:  if your symptoms were ARS, the test would have been positive.

I hope these replies help. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
