[Question #14039] HSV 2 - Symptoms?

I am a male and had a mutual masturbation encounter with a Lady of unknown status.(She is a pole dancer)
There is no Vaginal, Oral or Anal penetration involved. Just a very intense/rough handjob from her for 6 mins, I also inserted my fingers into her vagina while she was giving handjob to me.
Later forgot that I used my fingers to stimulate her vagina and checked my penis to observe if there is redness as its rough handjob. But, I am sure there is not considerable vaginal fluid on my hand when I checked. Could be dry too.
Next day, I saw a rash on center of glans which could be due to friction and 3 bumps near corona in skin colour. They did not look like water blisters or scab or ulcarate.
However, I noticed some discharge on foreskin, odour, White substance on glans and burning sensation. I went to GP and he said its balanitis and prescribed Nystatin Anti Fungal. 10 days later, no much improvement. GP said, it doesnt look like Viral or bacterial infection(Still thought fungal based on his observation of penis). He changed prescription to Hydrocortisone and Clortimazole which worked better. I also consulted dermatologist later and he suggested to use Tacrolimus/Aquaphor for Balanitis.

I got tested for STI's( Syphillis, HIV, Chlymidia, Gonnorhea, Trich, Microplasma Genetillum) at 7 weeks and they came negative. I did not get tested for HSV2 due to the possibility of false positives which may cause unnecessary stress.

But, in my case do you recommend testing for HSV2? Am I worrying unnecessarily without any Herpes symptoms?
Encounter happened on March 17th. I see Skin on Glans peeling now and the worry started because I had Balanitis in a week after this encounter and it took more than a month to get better.

Nothing that you've written here makes me think you acquired HSV at this encounter  . Nothing at all.  It is appropriate that you didn't test for HSV due to the high rate of false positives right now.  The kinds of contact that you had just don't present a risk for acquiring HSV 2. And I don't recommend that you test now unless you want to do the Western blot, which is the gold standard for herpes.  There are no false positives on the blot

I did not feel there is risk initially with the exposure. However, I need the below questions clarified.
1. What if there is any chance the dancer has Whitlow on her hands while masturbating me ? It was dark and I did not check her hands.
2. Is there any risk with myself touching while examining my Glans/urethra with some wetness from Fluids after mastrubation?
3. The bumps which showed up next morning on penis within 24 hours, even though they do not look like Water blisters. I noticed some mositure in the middle of them. But, they eventually got better in next 3 days. No signs of scabbing etc. Can they be herpes blisters?

I normally practice safe sex. Feeling restless due to this encounter. I read online that Balanitis can also be caused by STI's. Can HSV-2 cause Balanitis?

Do you still think my chance for HSV-2 is still zero or close to zero?

Whitlow is an uncommon condition, and most people would not feel comfortable using that hand for much while whitlow is present - it's very tender!
I also don't believe that having vaginal secretions on your hands while examining your penis present any real risk as much virus, if any was present, would be lost on hands and it takes a certain amount of virus to infect someone and very likely, in your situation, there would not be enough virus.
Herpes would not show up the next day - the incubation period is 2-10 days, with the average being 5.5 days plus your description of the bumps is not consistent with herpes lesions.
Balanitis is almost always fungal and be sexually transmitted if the women with whom one is having sex has yeast in her vagina (which is common) that then gets transferred to the head of the penis of a male partner.
This is totally different than what you describe

Thanks Terri for your time in responding patiently to my questions. Mutual masturbation with minimal vaginal fluid is my only exposure. Also, Forgot to mention that I am uncircumsized. Do you think the HSV2 blisters(water blisters) also show up in uncircumised men also? I have been very vigilant over the area but I have noticed none.

Do you suggest not to worry about HSV at all in my situation? Are my 7 week test results valid for remaining STI's?

Men who are uncircumcised and acquire HSV 2 can definitely have water blisters on their penis, yes.  And I'm glad to hear that you don't have any!  Given no herpes symptoms and negative testing at 7 weeks out and the very very limited exposure, yes, I think you can take this worry off of your plate.
