[Question #14070] Confirming low risj

I’ve reviewed many prior questions that I think gave me most answers, but I wanted to confirm and ask a couple others.

I’m male and received unprotected fellatio and condom protected vaginal sex with 2 Romanian escorts in the UK. I also gave both unprotected cunnilingus. The second CSW had a bit of a fishy odor from her vagina.

From reading other threads, I believe I’m essentially at no / very low risk for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trich, and HIV due to the condom and inefficiency to transmit through oral sex. Also seems syphilis is unlikely given women. My normal partner and I both got Gardasil shots, so risky HPV seems unlikely too.

My questions:

1. Is my assessment right?

2. What about mycoplasma genitalium? I haven’t seen anything on how well condoms protect

3. The fishy odor may have been BV, but my understanding is this is no risk to me. If concurrent with gonorrhea or chlamydia, I figure condom protected (no breaks or major slippage) and I’ll get a test a week out anyway.

4. In absence of lesions within a week, presume I’m basically clear of HSV. Correct?

Thanks for the other threads. They helped a lot.

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  Thanks as well for reviewing past posts on our site- we make them available to be used just as you have.  You've done a good job of reviewing your situation and I agree with your assessment.  I'll answer your specific questions below:

1. Is my assessment right?
Right on target- good job

2. What about mycoplasma genitalium? I haven’t seen anything on how well condoms protect.
Data on M. genitalium are limited.  It appears that the infection is rarely, if ever transmitted though oral sex and condoms should be highly effective for prevention of transmission.

3. The fishy odor may have been BV, but my understanding is this is no risk to me. If concurrent with gonorrhea or chlamydia, I figure condom protected (no breaks or major slippage) and I’ll get a test a week out anyway.
Certainly no objections to your plan. I anticipate that your tests will be negative.  I also agree with you that IF she had BV, this would be of  no consequence to you.   There are limited data that BV may be sexually transmitted but this is, if anything, a minor concern.

4. In absence of lesions within a week, presume I’m basically clear of HSV. Correct?
Almost.  If you acquired HSV lesions would be expected to occur within 10 days of your encounter.  Overall your risk of HSV is low- most exposures to infected partners do not lead to infection.  Further, condoms provide >60% protection from acquisition of HSV if you were exposed.  There is no meaningful risk of getting HSV-2 from receipt of oral sex.

I hope that this additional information is helpful.  EWH
