[Question #14088] Deep kissing with tongue contact, syphilis risk

Hello Dr,

I recently engaged in deep kissing with tongue contact. There was exchange of saliva. There were no sores visible on the lips but inside the mouth, I am not sure if there were any sores present.

Can you please tell me if there is any risk of syphilis transmission if there were sores present inside the mouth and how common is it for syphilis to transmit that way. I understand that if there were no sores present, the risk for syphilis transmission is very low, is that correct?

Do you think I need to get tested for syphilis and what is the earliest window period to get a reliable result?

Is there any risk for other STIs from this deep kissing encounter?

Thank you
Seb
