Today I learned that I had genital warts. Normally I had some bumps on my penis that I didn't care that much, they were really small. I first saw them 6 months ago (I don't remember exactly, but something like that) then I also noticed some new bumps on my penis base 2 weeks ago. It looked similar to the existing ones. Like small flowers. Then I wanted to go to a doctor and I did today. Doctor examined and after like a minute he told me that those are highly likely genital warts and he offered several treatment options. I was shocked and I told him that I will think about it.

Now, the strange thing.

When I read online, even an answer to a question from yesterday shows that warts appear just a few months after sexual contact.

I'm 22 (male), unfortunately I was raped when I was 8, multiple times by stranger men. Orally and also genital penetration. I never talked about this to anyone. In fact, it's the first time I'm sharing it. Even today, I didn't tell to the doctor. I was almost going to say it but I just couldn't.

After that sexual contact I never had sex or any sexual contact with anyone.

How is that possible the warts appeared recently? After years?

I don't have any auto immune diseases as far as I know.

Like how is this even possible?

Its been at least 14 years.

That, I still don't understand and this is very scary. Do I maybe have some serious ilness that made my body unable to clear the virus over years?

I just cannot believe this. I never seen someone like this, been searching since after my appointment.

What should I do? Should I also tell my doctor about this?
