[Question #1489] Pimple bump ?

Hello,
First off let me say I have OCD and I'm working on it!
This past weekend I was taking a shower and I felt a small bump on my testical sac skin. It's located underneath and to the back, close to my hip crease. It looked like a white head and I popped it. I couldn't see any white stuff come out. I continued to fuss with it and try popping it several times then it started to bleed.  My wife looked at it and said it looks like a ingrown hair possibly. She did pull a hair out of the middle of it. A very fine looking hair.  Having OCD I start thinking its herpes. I looked up pics and it doesn't look like it or warts.
Ive been married for 25 years and haven't done anything and I know my wife hasn't either.
This small circle bump is pink with a small crater in it, it's tender with a burning/ achey feeling and uncomfortable at times when I walk because of friction with my leg. It does look better than  did on Saturday.  Should I be concerned or worried? What should I do to treat it?
Thanks so much!! I've never had this before.

I went to the doctors today. Dr  said it was not herpes or a wart. Said it was a ingrown hair and that it's common. He gave me mupirocin to put on it, he said it was healing and there's nothing to worry about! My OCD gets going sometimes.

That's reassuring!  I'm hoping that I have the same issue... waiting on lab results.  I think it's an ingrown hair, so fingers are crossed.  I'm just as OCD as you are!

So Robert, I'm very glad you went to the doctor's office and you got good clarification on what was going on with your scrotum!  It is so much better to see a clinician in person than it is to talk to us.  sometimes we have additional insight about STI's that others might not have but in this case, very good that you were seen.  Great news for you Robert.

Hi Terri, I'm glad I went to the dr, due to my OCD I question everything!
The bump is very small and hard to find it is also shiny when you stretch it and seems to be flesh colored. Maybe a little red, The mupirocin has definitely helped it.  All day yesterday it mildly ached down there. Again w having OCD. Would herpes clear up in 3-4 days? How long would it last?  And would you expect to get it up behind the testical. I can't think of a way that the spot were the bump is would come in contact with anything. It's hidden.
I know the dr I saw said it was nothing and wasn't herpes or a wart and I don't need to see a dermatologist. He felt it was a ingrown hair most likely and My wife did pull 2  fine hairs out of the middle of it.  Again it has improved and is almost gone. And doesn't look like any pictures I've seen online. Sorry for going on and on. Best regards

Well, normally herpes lasts a bit longer and it doesn't look like a shiny bump.  I would also not expect it to be behind the testicle.  I understand completely that you are worried, it's fine to ask the question, that's why we are here!  all the best

Hi Terri. Thanks for responding! I looked at it again and it's barely there. Very small. When I stretch the skin it's a small pink circle. Its hard to see, I have to use a mirror. Should I trust the Dr I saw who said its not herpes. It's a pimple or ingrown hair! I would know if it was herpes! And I don't need to see a dermatologist. Just put the mupirocin on and it will go away in a week!
My OCD gets me going at times! It doesn't look at all like any pictures on the internet!  and it's in a spot were skin friction would irritate it.  I've had no fever or aches or anything prior to this. Should I just let it go as the dr said? Should I see a dermatologist? If I trust the dr who looked at it and it's nothing. It's ok to have relations with my wife? Terri thank you so much for your time!!!!!!

So I do think you should believe the doctor that you saw, and I don't always say that!
You've been married 25 years with no other partners.  I think that likelihood that you have herpes is incredibly small!  If you or she have had no other partners in all of this time, yes, you can have sex with your wife!  And I don't think you need to see another health care provider.
