[Question #1532] Herpes transmission

I was diagnosed with HSV 2 25 years ago. This past weekend I had vaginal/finger stimulation, no intercourse, but while resting on my friends stomach I felt his penis up against my vulva it was not fir a long period because o moved. I don't get many outbreaks once a year or less and not on medication. There were no sores. What is the likelihood that I might have infected him?

I think the likelihood is EXTREMELY LOW is not entirely absent,.  Resting up against a vulva when you had no outbreak just doesn't fit the criteria for a transmission risk.  It takes a lot more contact than that.  I hope you can feel reassured about this now.

oh yes, if skin on the finger was intact, zero risk.

Thank you Teri. Trying to get a grasp on understanding the shedding process and what is safe has been  perplexing. I feel better knowing what you just responded.

I think it is worth noting that herpes is not as easily transmitted as you might think.  So take your assessment of the risk and divide it by 10 and that might be around right.  Lots of people think herpes is very easily transmitted but it truly is not that easy in the vast majority of situations.  you take care now, OK?
