Is a woman less likely to transmit herpes after menopause, due to the lack of vaginal mucous?

There is no evidence that women are more likely to transmit herpes after menopause than before menopause.  In fact, if a person has had herpes for a long time, they are less likely to shed virus than people with new herpes.  The amount of vaginal secretions is not directly tied in any way to the frequency or likelihood of transmission.

Please let me know what other questions you might have regarding genital herpes.
