[Question #1955] HSV-1 Genital

* I have HSV1 Genital (vagina) and only
had one outbreak (ob) 2 years ago and after that none. Is it likely it
won't come back anymore?
1. Because of the hsv1 in my body, i'm
scared I’ll get cold sores on my mouth suddenly (i've never had this). Is this
possible?
2.Can I infect myself on other body parts (if i touched the area
with or without an ob)? I now freak out with every wound/bump i see.
i.e: if i razor/trim my vagina area en after that my
anus area, can i infect the anus area then?
3. I'm a bad sleeper and terrified
that my immune system will get low, and then get an ob. Is that likely?
4. Can pills/liquids cause an ob? (birth-control, oxazepam)?
5. Can I receive oral sex, or is
there a high risk my partner will get cold sores (oral) then?
6.Can I give my partner oral sex because
of the hsv1 in my system? (he doesn't have hsv)
7.Am I highly resistant for hsv2?
8.If someone with a cold
sore kiss me, can I get it on my mouth then?
9. Can I share a bath with my baby, he's 7 months?
(with or without ob)
10. Do i need to clean the bath if i used
it?
11. What if i forget to wash my hand
after touching the area, and then later touch my baby?
12. On how many degrees I have to
wash my underwear, and can I wash it together with the baby's
clothes?
13. Does the virus survive in
sheets/towels?
14. Can shaving the area cause an
outbreak?
15. What is sharing a razor so
dangerous?
16. Can tight pants cause an outbreak?
17. What if there is an ob, the
one time i've had one, i barely did not dare to walk, because i was
fearful of spreading the virus?
18. Is it possible because of hsv1 in the
body, the skin down under is so painfull always?.
19. Is it possible to catch hsv from objects like
doorknobs etc and then touching your mouth/genitals?
20. How can i deal with the fear of
getting an ob again or better "to infect my partner or baby"?

Wow, this is quite the list.
1. Because of the hsv1 in my body, i'm scared I’ll get cold sores on my mouth suddenly (i've never had this). Is this possible?
Extremely unlikely unless you acquired HSV 1 genitally and orally at the same time and have simply not had an oral outbreak, but it is likely you would have shown oral symptoms by two years later if you were infected orally.
2.Can I infect myself on other body parts (if i touched the area with or without an ob)? I now freak out with every wound/bump i see.
Extremely unlikely
i.e: if i razor/trim my vagina area en after that my anus area, can i infect the anus area then?
The virus already lives in all the nerves that innervate this area - you don't need to worry about spreading it in this area - it's already there.
3. I'm a bad sleeper and terrified that my immune system will get low, and then get an ob. Is that likely?
Maybe - hard to say what would cause outbreaks for you.
4. Can pills/liquids cause an ob? (birth-control, oxazepam)?
No, we have no evidence that those things would cause an outbreak.
5. Can I receive oral sex, or is there a high risk my partner will get cold sores (oral) then?
HSV 1 genitally is shed rarely (about 5% of days measured) and most people already have HSV 1 so that is unlikely but not impossible
6.Can I give my partner oral sex because of the hsv1 in my system? (he doesn't have hsv)
Yes - and he knows that how?
7.Am I highly resistant for hsv2?
You are not resistant to HSV 2, no.
8.If someone with a cold sore kiss me, can I get it on my mouth then?
Extremely unlikely
9. Can I share a bath with my baby, he's 7 months? (with or without ob)
Yes
10. Do i need to clean the bath if i used it?
No more than you normally would, no
11. What if i forget to wash my hand after touching the area, and then later touch my baby?
Transfer in this way would be extremely unlikely
12. On how many degrees I have to wash my underwear, and can I wash it together with the baby's clothes?
No special temps are required and you can wash your laundry with your babies laundry
13. Does the virus survive in
sheets/towels?
No
14. Can shaving the area cause an outbreak?
Probably not
15. What is sharing a razor so dangerous?
I don't think it is so dangerous - I think a razor is a very unlikely method of transmission
16. Can tight pants cause an outbreak?
Probably not.
17. What if there is an ob, the one time i've had one, i barely did not dare to walk, because i was fearful of spreading the virus?
To what or whom?
18. Is it possible because of hsv1 in the body, the skin down under is so painfull always?.
No, I doubt that - have you been evaluated for other things that might cause pain in the genital area>
19. Is it possible to catch hsv from objects like doorknobs etc and then touching your mouth/genitals?
no
20. How can i deal with the fear of getting an ob again or better "to infect my partner or baby"?
I think you will need to live with the possibility (though low now) that you could at some point get another outbreak - this is a recurrent disease, but one study showed that if a person with HSV 1 genital infection had not had a recurrence in the first year, there is an 88% chance they won't have another.
In the future, please don't write your question on some sort of Word document and then paste them here. We have a word limit to the post and I think you have likely far exceeded it here. But I answered anyway this time because maybe you didn't know that. Thanks

2. Just because you don't have an outbreak in part of the genital area doesn't mean the virus isn't in the nerve supplying that area - it is. You cannot move the virus yourself to a new place in the genital area- it is in that group of nerves and the central location called the sacral ganglia, at the base of your spine. It can come out on any branch of that nerve.
I doubt that all the little buts are all herpes outbreaks but if you want to know for certain, you could have it swab tested to be sure.
