[Question #2084] Herpes infection - suppprt

Hi experts ,
Let me tell my story so far for last 3 months .

Received  unprotected oral and had protected intercourse 3 months back. The girl was tested and her result was 5.7 ( cutoff 0.9) . Don't know the kit used. And it was a combo test. Immediately after the incident I got urine pain and itching in my penis and  testicle. The pain was constant and not going away lasted almost 6 weeks ( only gone for 1-2 days and comes back again) . For last 2 weeks the pain was gone and now again urine pain is back(mild pain and uncomfortable feeling after urinating)   . No blisters on penis or shaft.

I got fluid filled blister on my upper left  foot  2-3 weeks after the exposure. It was not painfull and did not became a sore or ulcer . The blister was healed after 2 weeks but still a scar is there since I irritated it.

Then after 4 weeks exposure I got folliculitis like small blisters on my left thigh and healed in 2 weeks . Then 3 sores on my right upper foot ( exactly in a line ) after 5 weeks I guess. Then after 9 weeks 2 blisters on left ankle and another one in right ankle. Just blisters and after I irritated it became a sore . Single pimple like thing in my left upper arm , irritated is and healed in 1 week.
I'm not in a place where they do swab tests . Only combo HSV IGG testing. My testing history is as below.

4 Weeks : 9.7 RU/ml ( Negative) cut off 22 RU/ml

6 Weeks : 1.7 RU/ml ( Negative) cut of 22 RU/ml

8 Weeks : 1.2 RU/ml ( Negative) cut of 22 RU/ml

9 weeks : 0.248 ( negative ) cut off 1.1

12 weeks : 5.8 ( negative) cut off 22 RU/ml

method : ELISA (EUROIMMUN) - Anti-HSV-1/2-pool

My urologist did a biopsy test on my bladder and found some suspected lesions inside bladder - waiting for biopsy result. No lesions or abormality in urethra.

1. Am I experiencing herpes ?

2. What is ur idea on blisters I experience ? Herpes ?

3. Urine pain persistent is normal in herpes for such long time ? Should I test again in 16 weeks ? I have no option for WB. Did several cultures for urine and s

Pain from acquiring herpes would not last for 6 weeks - that's just not how herpes works.
Your testing has so far been solidly negative.  I'm not sure what to make of the blisters that you are experiencing.  When you say blisters, are these water blisters or blisters like you might get on your foot from shoes rubbing?     I'm a little unclear about what you are describing.
If your combined antibody test at 12 weeks is negative and you have no way to investigate the blisters with a swab test, then I think you should make the assumption that you are negative for both HSV 1 and 2 since this is the best test that you have available to you.  I mean, what else can you do besides what you have done?
In summary, herpes pain does not last for 6 weeks, you've already had a negative test at 12 weeks (which is the timing that we suggest, and you have no mechanism for swabbing any lesions that come.  I seriously don't think that you have herpes and you've done all you can to sort it out so I think you should let this go

Thansk terry for replying . Actually first one I was referring was watery filled single lesion which did not became a sore or ulcer.  Other blisters I am referring were  red pimple like things. I got the urine pain within 12 hours of the exposure. Frankly even earlier.
Have you seen anyone have bladder lesions or bladder skin abnormalities when infected with herpes ?  Still randomly I am getting pain in my penis and testicle.  So u recommend to take another test at 16 weeks ?  I read some thread in medhelp that combined HSV is more accurate finding any HSV infection. Is it true ? Ankle blisters were red pimple like also. Not watery filled.

I'm sure there are people who have bladder issues who also have herpes, but if you are asking me if I've seen bladder lesions that ARE herpes, my answer is no.
I don't agree that a combination test is the best test (vs. type specific testing) because if positive, you cannot know what kind of herpes you have.  I'm also not clear at all on the sensitivity of the combined test vs. the type specific tests.
Thank you for clarifying my question about the blisters.  None of what you describe sounds like herpes to me.  Most sound like they could be folliculitis or a simple pimple.

Thansk terry . So u want me to test again in 16 weeks or more to put this scare behind me  ?  Can urine pain appear within 12 hours after exposure ? My anxiety and guilt feeling killing me.  Need some assurance some how to get this over me . Can this be atypical herpes symptoms ?

I don't think the result will be different at 16 weeks than it is as 12 but if makes you feel better to do so, feel free.  And no, urine pain from herpes would not come right away - the soonest I have seen herpes symptoms appear is 2.5 days.  I really really don't think you are having atypical symptoms, no, I don't.
